    He's not incorrect, though might be a bit blunt. Blackberry has to sustain some form of advantage. They are still competitors at the end of the day. By providing BBM service to users of other platforms they give:
    a) a solid messaging application
    b) the user a small feel for what BB10 looks and feels like.

    They might come as paid addons down the road, or maybe even free ones after the initial launch has subsided.

    I think it is good for them to start without voice or video first because it will be too tall an order & the network loads will be enormous to deal with.

    I agree with Loc22. It could have something to do with server loads. Starting with chat only would allow people to try it, test the apps, test the servers and so on before adding more features which will increase the load even more.
