I'm currently using the 9310 on Straight Talk. With unlocked BB10 phones available now, considering buying a SIM from them and getting a BB10 phone. Noticed in their BYOP fine print that BlackBerry devices are not supported for this service, but have also read that BB10 doesn't require a BIS plan. Does that mean I should be able to put their SIM into a BB10 phone and be good to go? Is there ANYthing carrier-end involved in starting out with one of these phones?

Yeah on some OS versions you can change the APN and it will work. I have used my Z10 on straight talk service just fine

BlackBerry 10 + Straight Talk = no worky

BlackBerry 10 doesn't allow users to modify the APN settings when a Straight Talk SIM is inserted. So you will not have MMS or data if you try to use a BB10 device on ST. Take it from me, I'm a Straight Talk subscriber and am very disappointed that it doesn't work with my BB10 smartphones.

I haven't checked since my first 10.2 leak, I will later tonight though. Thanks! Hopefully that restriction is gone forever.

I discovered that my Nexus 4 box is missing. Making it a pain in the **** to remove the sim card without that special tool. Finally got it out with a thumb tack though.

Nothing has changed since the last time I tried it. My Dev Alpha C and Limited Edition Z10 are running 10.2.0.1047. I know that is far from the latest leak, but I can't stand using BlackBerry Link any more. It aggravates me too much. So I haven't been keeping up with all of the leaks.

This is what I see with 10.2.0.1047 installed:
    BlackBerry 10 on Straight Talk-img_00000393.png
    BlackBerry 10 on Straight Talk-img_00000392.png

The APN can't be changed and it is connected to HOME, which is how Straight Talk appears on all of my other phones, but is only able to use voice and SMS.

Two things. First, which leak do you have this working on, and second, I'm looking at an ATT SIM 'cause T-Mo service sucks at my house, and the fine print also says "keep 4G speed with an ATT approved device". By any chance, could that mean this would be easier with an ATT Q10?

Yeah i just tried on the 1725 leak and the APN is not editable. I am not sure what leak allowed to edit the apn. looks like its a no go for me right now.

So just for clarification, a older BlackBerry 10.2 build worked with Straight Talk, but newer builds may or may not?

I will confirm that straight talk does INDEED work on a ST100-3 on AT&T LTE SIM.
You CAN change the APN settings.

I will make anychanges to this blog post, about my experience with StraightTalk and my Z10

I talked to a few people with Z10/ST and most got it working with 10.2.0.1047. They went to the EScreen and got data/mms working.

Guys, you can change the APN through escreens://
The data works even with the new LTE AT&T Sims.
Unfortunately, MMS stopped working with this new sim and it seems I lost hope already.

We're talking about unlocked phones here.

It is ridiculous to have to jump through hopes to make a unlocked phone work on a prepaid carrier. I can take every single GSM phone I own, slap my Straight Talk SIM in, edit the APN and it works. No worrying about a OS update killing my service, or needing to go to a special engineering screen.

    BlackBerry needs to fix it.

I feel you, I am pissed to. Part of the problems comes from the carriers. If you put a SIM card from some European ones, you can edit the APNs. No such luck with AT&T one.
Eitherway, BlackBerry screwed it on this one

I just received my Z10! I am using the latest beta (10.2.0.1743) and using a Straight Talk LTE sim. Once I put in the sim card, I accessed the Escreen, once there I put in the APN, then went to the data settings for my Sim and put in tfdata, then LTE showed up and data is CONFIRMED to be working on the latest beta. I'm not sure what you guys were doing, but it took me 5 minutes top and this is my first time using a Z10.
