Hey guys, I was speaking with my sprint rep today and he told me that sprint is looking to release the official upgrade for the curve on Nov 4th. He said that the upgrade should (should being the operative word) give us the capability to do MMS. Yippee!!!!! Well hopefully the info that my rep gave me was acurate because I know that this is something that we have all been looking forward to. Do not hate me if it's not accurate guys, PLEASE!! But I will definately keep you all posted if I get any more info!

One of the by products of living in Overland Park, KS and about a mile away from the Sprint campus (HQ), is that you meet a lot of suites that work for Sprint. The 'rumor' I have heard regarding the upgrade is that MMS will be included but that teathering will be disabled. Personally, I will live without MMS if I have to give up teathering. No one has told me officially what it will and won't do. This has just been general conversation with a couple people. I am going to wait and see what others say about the upgrade before I do it. My Curve is working just fine, i'm in no hurry to screw it up.

Interesting. I find it very strange that Sprint would introduce a $15 tethering addon, and then suddenly drop tethering support on an existing product.

MMS would be lovely, but I have to agree losing tethering would keep me from upgrading.

However, I doubt they would take tethering away when it is an included feature on the Sprint BlackBerry plans.

This November 4th release makes me a little sad though, I was told by many people that today, the 21st, was the day we'd finally see 4.5 rolled out. Oh well, at least we don't have too much longer to wait. *crosses fingers*

So..if Sprint does offer the upgraded OS, will I have to install it manually, bring my BB into a service center, or will it the upgrade be automatic over the air? Will my settings and apps carry over, or will I have to re-install and reset everything?

You will have to install it yourself, but it will retain your apps and settings.

Using your BB as a modem by connecting (tethering) using either USB or Bluetooth.

I would hope something newer than that considering how long it's taken, granted .77 is fairly stable.

The upgrade for the Blackberry Curve will definetly include the MMS Capabilities, The tethering capabilities will stay intact who ever started this rumor i just want to make sure that this feature is Definetly staying on the Curve. The reason i know this is because i am a Data Specialist for Sprint in Massachusetts that specializes in Blackberrys and we have already received the document which states the improvements that will be coming to the Curve. Any other questions feel free to message me about and i will glade to look up the information for you.

I find it hard to believe that Sprint would make the user forego Tethering for thier phone for the MMS capability. That seems too farfetched to me.

Although I DO hope that 4.5 OS w/ MMS capabilities DOES come out before the end of the year.

While sprint reps are not to be trusted, I called business support since I didn't see them release it today. Now she says "nov. 17th". Really sprint. whatever. I'll be happy if i EVER see it released officially at this point.
