Run it as admin or check some of your anti virus software to make sure you're not blocking it.

I disconnected my device from the computer, and ran it as administrator.
    That fixed it.

Thanks guys. Just about to turn off anti virus and try again as my device wasn't connected while trying to install. Let you know how it goes.

I had the issue as well. I cancelled the install, rebooted the computer and it allowed the installation on the second try.

Managed to get it to install but it wouldn't let me sign in with my BBID or backup due to an IT policy.

Always uninstall old Link versions first prior to installing new one official, or leaked. Files from older versions corrupt the new files--known issue. Uninstall using PC/Control panel/programs and features and then reboot the PC prior to loading the new one. If you have CCleaner-run it as well to dump leftover registry files that may be hiding. That should help with install and working correctly! That said-this leak is a leak from beta so there may very well be some issues and that is good as that is how the devs find bugs and fix them. I'd personally stay with the official 1.1.1.41 until they have them worked out imo.

Did the same as administrator works well. Backup is faster so is restore, only issue with restore it won't read the backups done on it but reads all my older ones...

Any updates from anyone using this leaked version? I'm thinking about loading it but never load a leak until a few days have gone by and some honest remarks are posted to give everyone an idea of what is good and what is bad or not good, with it. Just checking in to see how it is functioning. Thanks in advance for your posts!

Since it's been about a week since the "leak" release of this new BB Link version followed by the "official release", so, can a few of you post your thoughts on how it is--improved over 1.1.1.41 and if so, in what ways? Negatives and what others should watch for when working with it. Sync and restore issues if any?
Thanks--thinking about updating it and wondered what it's working now that it is a week old?

I find the official 1.2 is running really well. Little confusing at first and I am still figuring it out but a huge improvement over 1.1.

A significant step forward over 1.1. Very easy to use, still a bit slow though.

Unfortunately I have the high CPU problem with "Blackberry Communication Manager (32-bit)" on my 64 bit Win 8.0.

My HP quad core m9340f from 2008 (6gb ram, ssd) runs link 1.2 really quick and smooth with my Z10... half the backup and restore time from 1.1... backed up and restored yesterday with no issues...using front pc's usb port too...always uninstall old Link first...

I think the horsepower inside the 'pooter has lots to do with BBlink running smoothly therefore a higher success rate.

I usually do a re-start on my computer before any start up of BBLINK restore.

Start link first then connect Device via USB.

Then sit by with a beverage and babysit the process, doing nothing else with the computer while this happens...thus maximizing the computer's resources to the task at hand.

Restored settings using 1.2 after loading 1761 on my Q10 and I agree-it was twice as fast as previous versions. Still issues with duplicate contacts with syncing with outlook 2007 though-a real pain when you have 1000+ contacts.

Ok-sick of the duplicate contacts with Outlook 2007, every time I load an OS (leaked or official-mostly leaked) and resync. I read on a thread that you can do a "clear Local Contacts" prior to syncing but not sure where in the process it's done. I only restore settings after an OS install and currently do the following: backup phone with Link; load OS via apploader; restore settings; setup email, etc; load BBW and android apps. Where in that scenario will I clear the local contacts and will it eliminate dups? Thank you!!

High CPU issue seems to have sorted itself out. Backup/restore is very fast with 1.2 - leaks are now even more fun

One good addition to the 1767 leak and it may have been on the previous 1761 leak, is that when adding an appointment or event to your calendar for syncing, it no longer goes automatically to the "home" calendar. You now have a drop-down box that allows you to choose which calendar you want to sync the new appointment with. Like I added an appointment in the field yesterday, and assigned it to BBLink (calendar) and when I synced at my office later in the day, it synced automatically to my Outlook 2007 calendar. Too cool and a nice fix!
