Is there any way to STOP the z19 auto correct from correcting words that I spell correctly?

It's really annoying that my phone keeps wanting to change 'today' to 'to say'

I want it to keep correcting words I spell wrong or mistype. I am aware I can swipe up on the space bar to keep my original word.. but that's hard to notice sometimes.

I really don't understand why it changes words that I spell correctly and that grammatically work in the sentence...

    Anyone know how to fix?

My thumb covers the space bar. I miss many of those situations. Words spelled correctly should be left the **** alone already. We know what we are doing.

I heard that the keyboard on the Z19 likes to mess with its owners. Part of the reason it hasn't sold well. In fact, I think only one has made it to the market and it has serious problems with the word "today"....

That's not it. That's not it at all. When has any human being ever said "what are you doing to say?"

i'm with the OP...In fact this was the first thread that was returned in my search of the very same issue. In my experience, it seems to have gotten worse with the more recent leaks (initially I expected it to be a known bug with the betas), but maybe not. I even figured explicitly selecting the option to Fix Misspelled Words for correction would do the trick, to no avail.

Maybe I need to flush the keyboard cache for my ill "training"?

What are you doing today? Today I typed to say and I typed today. Everything I typed today was good I have to say.

Mine gives "today" not "to say."

As you can see in the pic above.

Edit: here is my Z10 suggesting "today" earlier.

You could try to clear learned words. It may have learned that from a miss swipe. You can eventually train it out but it may time.

Go into settings, language, prediction and correction, tap on substitution and you will see two boxes. Type today in the top box and today in the bottom box then save.

Another one it likes to change is your to tour. Do the same with that....and it also likes are to ate. any words that it changes that you regularly use you can put into substitution.

    Hope that helps.

Looks like this has been responded to many times already today, but I have to say that I have not come across this myself.

Not sure if you somehow taught it to behave like that, or maybe someone messed with your word substitutions. Worth a look (maybe a practical joke)?

I have never typed a real word that is correctly spelled and had it replace it with something else (especially replaced it with two separate words).

nothing as drastic as clearing learned words is required for one mis-corrected word.. as others have said it's a learing keyboard.. so just teach it.. type the world 'today', it will correct to 'to say' backspace twice, it will change back.. type it again.. if it changes, backspace twice, type it again, 5 times or so.. press enter.. it will remember.

Just swipe to get left to undo the wrong word substitution made by the auto correct.

After it makes it "to say", swipe back across the keyboard. It will return to "today". After doing this 2 or 3 times it will remember

I empathize with OP. We've discussed time to time in past this sometimes pesky problem...

No the Z/OS10 probably won't improve without resetting the Auto correct/pseudo AI text function. Then you must be very careful in the early stages, after this reset, not to mislead while its (re-)learning. Sadly, there are some sentence structures, use of some punctuation, and word choice that I've found will never be learned.

Therefore, you should consider setting one, or more, OS10 switches off as relates to this auti-correct function. This alternative is drastic but necessary if u utilize complex structures in your communique. Or, also if you have transmissions that are critical to be accurate in word/spelling.

So backspacing and then spacing again is any faster? Lol. No. Swiping up to avoid erasing is faster.
