Nothing man. Why do you guys act like old ladies. Chill and let the board do its thing. Do you think they'll sell to someone that will dismantle the company? use common sense. BlackBerry is going no where. They might have the next iteration come out in a different form, perhaps on a Nokia device, but they're in for the long haul. Don't buy into the breaking up the company rumour.

We'll have to send in our current BB devices, so they can exchange their branding: Replacing the BBRY lettering and logo, while they're at it, they'll update the software which also gets a branding replacement.

Once done, they'll send the phones back.

Wonder what happends to legacy devices that need BIS. With BB sold to other company, will there be a chance service provider stop providing BIS?

There is a good possibility that the new owner could phase out BB10. In that case the phones will still work but without new updates and BB world will decline with time, developers won't support the apps.

In the case of BBOS, the new owner will maintain the business because It can still generate money for a couple of years. The BIS fee is a high margin business.

Sorry this is a honest question: if BlackBerry were to be sold/closed down would one still able to log into BlackBerry world and thus restore from current backups?

Since there server would be shut down??

They're not going anywhere anytime some, regardless if they are sold or not.

It's not like a magic switch will be pulled and the phone is worthless. You will have many years of blackberry enjoyment regardless what happens.

BB10 phones turn to magic dust, found to be powerful hallucinogen. Waterloo becomes new drug capital. BC economy collapses, gets booted out of Canada. Quebec fumes jealously.

from my understanding, BB10 does NOT use any BB services other than BBWorld for apps.

that means everything should work just fine... except for apps, not sure how that will work, but dont worry because BB10 doesnt have any good apps anyways... apparently
