What about the idea of this transaction is good for BB?
BB now is not only the best independent mobile eco system (in terms of security, workflow and infrastructure) they are the tallest David (among ubuntu, Jolla etc.) against the Golliaths (MS,APPLE,Google) in the mobile business. Now they need to communicate to the consumers beside all the benefits the OS has got (legacy devices AND BB10) that they are outstanding, sth. special!
And from a marketing view they got it all: great history, founder story, "still alive"...and people love the independent rebels that are even able to bear up. Got it?

The conventional wisdom is that this is not at all good for BBRY because there are now three gigantic, obscenely rich handset/software entities and one little dinky one in Waterloo, Ontario.

Nokia was acquired for around 5 billion instead of the rumored 30 billion valuation from earlier in the year, which is significantly less than Motorola's 12 billion dowry.

    Notice the trend?
    Value is going down.

Bb is worth even less now than it was before the announcement.

The MS acquisition of Nokia's HW division may be good for BlackBerry because other players such as HTC, Lenovo, Sony, etc may partner up with BlackBerry to produce the number of devices that's necessary to be viable in the long run, don't see any of those vendors to continue a relationship with MS. Let's be honest about BB10 it is an extremely good operating system that's only going to get better.

MS might be interested in BB's patents, but they have no use for anything else of BB's. They might be a buyer of those patents in the even that BB is broken up and the pieces sold off, but anyone who thinks that MS is going to do anything to keep BB10 alive is delusional.

Maybe someone who understands Canada can help me understand something. Assuming MSFT is out of the running, and putting aside for a second Watsa or some other Canadian concern raising the capital to take BlackBerry private, doesn't this make a sale of BlackBerry extremely difficult seeing that the only companies that make sense as potential buyers at this point are all Asian (for lack of better geographical reference) entities?

From everything I have read here the Canadian government would not be amenable to approving a sale to a non-Canadian concern in general and any Chinese ones in particular. How does this change the outlook for BlackBerry?
