Hey everyone,

I got a brand new white Z10 a couple of days ago and I'm loving it!
But I have one small problem with it. And I'm hoping some of you would be more experienced in this than I am.

When I try to type Chinese, either Traditional or Simplified, the keyboard just keeps typing English.
I've seen videos of where a single keystroke will bring up "suggestions" in Chinese.
I have the suggestions in English no problem.
But when I change the input method over to Chinese, nothing shows up.
I'm hoping that something in my settings is preventing the "suggestions" or Chinese to show up at all.

For example:

1. Tap-n-hold "globe icon" to switch to "Simplified Chinese".
2. Tap "ni", which should prompt 你. But only shows up as "ni".
3. proceed to type "hao", which should bring up 好. But only "hao" shows up.

What am I doing wrong here?
I'm thoroughly, utterly stumped.

No problem with me at all.

Hold world button to activate Chinese mode.

Toggle the button of mode in Chinese at the left bottom corner to switch between Chinese and English input.

Actually the Chinese input to me works flawlessly.

For example, if n character is typed, the first Chinese character "you" shows up immediately right above the keyboard. Once it is selected, "How are you" in Chinese appears to be picked up again. Pretty smart.

Yeah that's what I thought, because that would be the logical and intuitive process for inputting Chinese.
But it's not the case for me.
I tried adding various methods to test each out.
And I used the globe icon to switch between input methods.
But I haven't been able to type a single word of Chinese.
It doesn't matter if I'm in PinYin, BoPoMoFo, Simplfied, Traditional, nothing works.

When I click "n", it shows up as "n".
Everything I type still shows up in English alphabets.
No Chinese characters are shown or prompted no matter which input method I use.

Does your keyboard appear like mine? See screen shot attached, if it's not like that, maybe you need software reload. I'm not sure though.

That's exactly what I did.

First I click the globe button to go to a Chinese input method.

Then I type something using the QWERTY keyboard.
But no Chinese "suggestions" show up.

Here is what my settings look like:

Yes, all of the settings in this part of the menu were never tampered with.

Preditions = ON
Auto-Correct with Space bar = ON

I remember having this similar problem occasionally on the early 10.0 OS, but it's been solved after 10.1 releases.

Just keep switching input methods, and turn on and off the keyboard, I believe that's the solution for me.

I believe I'm on 10.2.0.1323
I'll try the good ol' turn it off and turn it on again.
I doubt it'll "fix" the problem. But who knows :P

I am on 10.1 Verizon. It looks like to be a 10.2 bug.

Please file a bug for this issue or let leak OS people know.

I would refuse to upgrade to 10.2 if this bug is not resolved when 10.2 is officially available.

strange, I'm also on 10.2 and I'm not experiencing this kind of problem, although I'm on 10.2.0.1047 maybe that version of leak has bug on the keyboard

Nahh, I believe it will be resolved when 10.2 officially available, my 10.2 works perfectly typing mandarin

Since I got this phone as a carrier upgrade from my company.
That doesn't sound right. I will have to file a bug report I suppose.

If you got your phone from your company directly, it is hard to believe that you got a 10.2 phone since 10.2 is not officially available yet.

BlackBerry 10 has 3 input methods for Chinese, and only 2 for English.

Thorsten doesn't like English

Security wipe you phone.

Remember to back up your phone first.

I'm not too familiar with blackberry jargon...
Do you mean to reload the OS? Maybe to an older version with a working Chinese keyboard?

Hey g2gcya,

Which version of OS are you running?
Also, what do you type after every "word"?
For example, "mei" then space? or enter? Or do you just continue onto the next word?
