This is my first day in the leaked forum. Nobody checked my ID at the door, so I just walked in and now I'm totally confused.

If possible, could someone give me a high-level view on what's on the menu? I'm just a regular Joe interested in trying out the new leaked OS mainly because I'm into side-loading Android apps on my Q10. I walk in here and see "10.2.0.810", "10.1.0.4633", and "10.2.0.1047", and my ADD starts going haywire. In short, what's the deal with these different leaks? Like... maybe a sentence or two about each one? That would be sooo helpful you can't even imagine! Or, maybe there is a "Help-I-Dont-Know-What-I'm-Doing-Here" thread?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Generally speaking the higher the number the better, however there are a lot of catches to that statement. The 10.1MR(10.1.0.4633) releases are great, although there is apparently an issue with restoring text messages. 10.2.0.1047 is the best of the 10.2 builds so far. It has a bunch of new features but the OS is not complete. There are bugs and aspects that have not been finished.

Much of it has to do with your own comfort level and what you want out of your device. For reliability definitely stick to 10.1.

You can find a lot more information well organized @ berryleaks.wikia.com

For Detail Information about the pro and cons read the threads to each leak ;-)

Welcome to the leaky side You will find a good people here who are willing to offer a lot of help to those who need assistance navigating the world of leaks. However, the Berry Leaks Team also has Hellfire missiles to deal with this those who annoy them

You mention that you are heavy into Android apps. IIRC, there are certain restrictions built in to the Android portion of 1047. Some people who use a lot of Android sideloads have the 1047 OS with the 810 android sys. As I understand it the 810 Android sys is fully operational unlike the 1047. I am just trying to give you a heads up based on your OP, I don't have any sideloads myself so I don't really understand the intricacies.

As toobs623 said you will find good info in the new Berry wiki pages and be sure to read the posts and FAQ posts that generally are the first couple of posts of a thread introducing a leak.

OK, that statement confused me. Aren't they two completely separate OS leaks? How can they have both installed?

The 1047 os is far the best. The 810 is just the Android runtime bar file.( think side loaded apps). Download the file and side load like normal...

The core OS has to be one or the other, but you can interchange certain peripheral files such as Radios, Android runtime and built in apps using a software program called sachesi, developed by Xsacha, one of the Berry Leaks Team:

It is really essential to read the stickies, the first couple of posts of a leak you are thinking of upgrading to and the wiki before you do anything. One reason is you are less likely to make mistakes and two you will be able to ask better questions to seek help if you do run into trouble.

For example, if you upgrade your OS and decide you don't like it and decide to downgrade. If you try to restore using a backup made while you were on the "higher" OS, it won't work. But, one of the team, DarcyTallGuy, has developed a tool that allows you to change the OS version on your backup file to a lower number so that it will restore. But you will only find out by reading the stickies or the Wiki since it is an old problem, long since resolved.

I see. So... if I wanted to use the 810 runtime, I would first need to upgrade my OS to 10.2, right?

You would first install 10.2.1047 then install the. 810 runtime as other have said. The reason people are loading. 810 runtime is because you don't need to sign the bar files for it to run native code

Tldr: .810 will run better with Android apps than the. 1047 runtime

1047 is a smooth OS, but like another poster indicated it is not without issues. To determine which one is best for you, you need to read the respective threads, completely, for positives and negatives. In 1047 many people have hotspot issues Others are experiencing general wifi issues on that build, while others are not.

You can always try a leak and if it doesn't suit your need try a different one.

I think most on this forum probably experiment with ever new leak. I know I do.

    Happy leak loading.

You should also be aware that since you have a Q10 there will be no WiFi calling on 1047 due to lack of a compatible radio. The
radio in 1047 (1048) does not allow WiFi calling.
