I'm tired of apps that require a computer to be on and have something installed and running in order to print a file. If BB10 wants to really shine in the eyes of the business world, make the phone seamless: people need to be able to create a document or take a photo on the fly using their BB10 device , then locate a Wifi enabled printer and print them instantly. I don't understand why that is such a hurdle; even the HP TouchPad 4G can print directly to certain printers.

EDIT: Soryr, totally didn't read your post.

Isn't there other ways of printing such as bluetooth printing and such?

yes I agree, my old 9800 was capable but I had to use cortado workspace and it was a pain to set up, I have found a solution for my home printer epson, I converted the android epson iprint app and it does work on os 10.2, but I am not able to print directly from the document, I have to open the app and search for it

WiFi printing is all well and good, but for most businesses wireless is controlled by RADIUS servers, separate subnets, etc. If BlackBerry really wants to make an impact, there would be support for printing on any device so long as it's on the same network or subnet range as the handheld. There are enough universal PCL drivers, and even some universal Postscript drivers, that it could open up to where an OEM would just have to plug their device's specs into an API framework.

Developers, you or BlackBerry need to get on this and stop messing around with gimmicky wireless only or computer-as-server solutions!

I've been on an endless pursuit of a WiFi printing app as well - found this today:

BlackBerry World - PrintHand Mobile Print Premium

Sadly it doesn't let you print documents (yet) - just contacts, photos, web pages, Gmail and Facebook albums. I'm told PDF support is coming soon though which is great.

Playcloud allows for wifi printing to a degree, with more functions being added. Well worth a look.

I tried PlayCloud but it was a huge PITA to setup IMO and not worth the time.

Have to agree with Adam. IPP like PlayCloud uses is a hit or miss proposition at best, the method has been around forever and if it had any real degree of success it would be used by everyone. I had actually tried sideloading PrintHand and another Android app called PrintBot. PrintHand didn't give me much luck, but PrintBot did although the free version I used only allowed you to print three documents per month. Sounds like at the very least the folks behind PrintHand are getting closer to giving us a little BlackBerry 10 love.

I've tried the PrintHand app and unless you're using a printer connected to your network by wireless it's all but useless. Consumer grade printers may use wireless, but for any large business wireless is locked down making printer setup that way all but useless.

Come on BlackBerry, add some LPD support into BlackBerry 10 and let us stop dealing with the compromise solutions for such a necessary part of business!

I use Breezy to print documents but it works through a computer. I just got a wireless Brother printer and I'm wondering the same, how can I print to it while the computer is off? I want to print directly to the printer

I purchased PrintHand a few days ago and after some trial and error I've been able to print via both Mac and Windows PCs to my network printer once their PC software was installed. It does print PDF files. You have to be a little patient as printing is not as fast as from a PC. So far they have responded to my emails, but the real test for me is when they enable printing directly to my network printer without the need for a PC with supporting software. This feature is a must when traveling as you rearly can install software on hotel PCs - unless it could be used from a USB stick without installation. Don't know if this is possible.

Epson and HP both have free services where you can email a doc to a dedicated email address and it magically prints... this is the easiest way. just forward the doc from your BlackBerry to this special email address and presto.

Another pretty slick way to print from your BB or anywhere really, is to use Google Cloud Print. After you get your printers setup there, you can use IFTTT to setup a Dropbox>Google Print Recipe. All you have to do then is just put whatever files you want to print into the Dropbox folder you setup and it will automatically print to your Google Cloud Print printer.

It's easier than it sounds. Check out the IFTTT site to browse some different recipes and you'll find one that should suit your needs for easy printing using Google Cloud Print.

Both services are free and even if you don't wanna use Cloud Print, you should check out IFTTT if you haven't. You can set up some pretty neat automatic formulas there.

Yeah, I use this same method and now I can be anywhere in the world and print on my home printer.

I need to send a doc to spouse, I just sign, scan and it prints at home and spouse have it. Best is, it prints Anything and Everything.

It's not a Canon utility. My printer is on my wifi network (connected to my router) and you print through either a PC or Mac on the same network.

I use the email to print method at home but at work I can print from my Z10 to our konica printer via bluetooth.

It's pretty cool but I don't know what the range is. I've only used it once a few months ago when I realized I needed something printed from my email and I had already shut down my computer. I should actually double check that it still works on the 10.2 leak. Lol.

Anybody have a solution for WIFI printing yet?
I see that blackberry isn't paying any attention on this matter. Its a must to be able to print from a wifi printer.
With an Iphone it flawlessly works. Blackberry needs to take a look at this..

Printhand. Available in BlackBerry World. I've used it with no issues. Have 5 printers connected and you use the share option when you want to print something you have opened.

Couple printers were not found in their list of drivers, so I used a generic driver. Works fine.

With apple AirPrint it only works with a select number of printers. Not that many to be honest.

I recently download the brother android app for my home printer onto the z10 and an now able to print directly from my phone. Prints images, documents, etc. just open the document and click the share icon and select the app. It also controls the scanner and saves scans as PDFs. Pretty much solved my needs for the home office.

as @Naziem13 suggested, it is blackberry's job to natively support network printing. after all blackberry boasts being a business-sector specialist.

sadly printHand crashed a couple of times when testing (although it successfully printed a test page) on my q10 with 10.2.1.2141 firmware
