Google maps 7.0 works like a native app on my BlackBerry Z10 running the leaked 10.2 OS. My question is why can't BlackBerry go up to Google and just ask them to officially release Android ports of some of their popular apps like Google Maps? This way people who don't know how to side load will be happy. Especially now that we are running jelly bean.

Just loaded it and it works very smoothly indeed! The buildings popping up when you zoom in is pretty cool.

The best thing is this version doesn't appear to permanently run in the background like previous versions which is great.

    Thanks a lot ! It's really nice.

But I can't see any setting for "make available offline" ?
In earlier versions I could mark out an area/city etc and it would download it so that it works even when there's no signal.

Works fine for me too though I'm not sure I'd that's because I have the debug token installed.

Simply search for your location and wait for it to load completely. When it does, go back to the search bar and slowly delete the text in there so that the Make available offline option appears

Click on that and wait for it to be saved

Has anyone successfully loaded this on 10.1?

I got it loaded, but it won't open. Say Initializing then closes immediately... I didn't use any debug token though as I've never used one before and wasn't too familiar with it?

Did you need to use a debug token?
If so, I'm guessing I would need to convert the apk myself using my debug token? Or is there an easier way to do this?

Unfortunately Google Maps v7 will not work on 10.1 even with a debug token because it needs ICS 4.0.3 minimum to work, so for us BlackBerry users it needs 10.2 which has JB 4.4.2

    Good to know. Thanks.

Does it need a debug token on 10.2? Or can I just Sideload the bar posted above with no debug token?

You can just side load it normally.

Trying on my DevQ, however it gives me the dialog to accept use of GPC etc. Then it shows "Initializing, please wait" then just shuts down.

Apparely no need for a debug token, I am attempting to install it on my DevQ, however in the Terminal, I see:

    result::failure -104

Not sure if whether this is a DevQ/Q10 problem, because none of us with Q's seem to have this app working on our devices as of yet.
