There used to be a function on the old BB, where you can forward your emails as PIN, text, etc. On the new BB, I can't seem to be able to do it anymore ...is it something that was lost on the new device or am I not looking hard enough?

Yes this function does appear to be gone.

When I go to texts and long press on a message and the settings come up I hit forward and the TO: section is blank and I'm able to enter am email address or I would assume a PIN as well

Yes, this has really annoyed me as well and the solution suggested by habs_fan doesn't seem to actually work. If you follow the steps and then enter an e-mail address as suggested, the message automatically switches to MMS mode, but the e-mail doesn't appear to be sent.

Another workaround is if instead of tapping the Forward icon, you tap the Share icon just below the Forward icon. It will send your SMS as a .txt attachment. This kind of achieves what you want to do, but you sends the text as attachment, rather than as body text as before.
