I'm sorry if there's a thread on this already, but I seem to be the only one having this issue.

So here's the deal, I always charge all my phones overnight, ever since the nokia dumb phones, never changed my charging habits. Its a first time a phone does this to me. The Z10 now, after a few months of use, for some reason, only charges between 95 - 98% sometimes 99%, on very rare occasions 100%

What could be causing this issue? It started out when my Z10 got the 10.1 update. I now have 10.2 and yet it's still doesn't change. Battery life is not affected in anyway, it just doesn't charge to full capacity. Why? It's not even 6 month old.

PS. plugging out and plugging the charger back in, sometimes help, but most of the time does not.

Do you use the OEM charger or some other micro-USB charger?

I use the OEM one? Been using the one that came with the phone. Though, I DO have a power bank that I carry around with me for emergency. Z10 had terrible battery life before installing 10.2 and I needed the portable charge to keep it alive on some occasion.

mine used to do that too, but not anymore. it fixed itself. there is a thread about it somewhere just have to do a search.

I would try a full discharge cycle - drain the battery all the way down until it turns off and then do a full charge to recalibrate the OS readings. Some people will tell you it's not good for the battery, but I like to do it every couple months and my battery is fine. the great thing is, you can always buy another battery.

Mine does that as well.. but i'd notice it not long after it stops charging, pull cable off, put it back on, then it'll continue to charge.. weird..

Yeah it would continue charging too, but not to 100%. Will try recalibrating battery see how it goes.

Plug in your charger then turn off the phone, let it charge until the light turn green, there you have 100% full charged. You can turn back on your phone.

    Cheers

Silly question but have you got the eBay App installed? This caused me some serious charging/battery issues and it would never get to 100% if you have, uni stall and try charging again.

It is a known stl100-1 problem. Battery does not charge fully sometimes, and it turns off before 0%. Nothing we can do about it.. Blackberry knows about this problem and haven't fixed it, which leads me to think it's a hardware problem. Just the way things are in the 100-1 world...

Odd, I haven't heard of it, maybe haven't been listening too well. Kinda sucks though, cause I love my Z10. Might have to swap out for an STL100-3 or -2...

and Shibby, no, I do not have the eBay app, never did never have.

I have a similar problem: when battery reads @ about 32% level, my Z10 shuts off. This stated going on since the 10.1 upgrade. I gave not installed the leaked 10.2. It's a nuisance because one thinks it still has enough power to go on for at least 2 hours and then it suddenly shuts and all's lost... I use the original charger and am very careful with the device. I think this might be a memory effect on the battery (it's supposed not to have) or else I can't explain... I think I'll take it to the store and invoke the product's warranty... BTW, anyone knows how to completely drain the battery...long past below 32%?

I've also noticed that my battery doesn't get charged to 100%, sometimes when I pop in a new battery, it just shows a charge of 98-99%.

I always carry the extra battery and charger bundle so I don't have to worry about charging my Z10 overnight anymore because I'm a heavy CrackBerrian user.

What works for me (and my battery only shows a charge till around 84 at times) is once it has the plug sign on the battery icon (hence meaning full) connect it to your computer via usb for a minute or two. If you do it few times whenever it doesn't charge fully, it will recalibrate it and be able to charge to 100.

I have the same issue (stl 100-3). I notice that I can get a full charge depending on the outlet im using (thats weird in itself). I also unplug and replug which usually does the trick. I have done the hard reset as well as cycling the battery both havent solved the problem. I read somewhere on cb that once z10 reaches a full charge it starts discharging and so it shouldnt be left on the charger after its fully charged (not sure how true this is)

Well..at least I know I'm not the only one with the problem. I'll try connecting to the computer and try to get to 100.

I read somewhere on my warranty leaflet thing that the battery is not covered in the warranty though?

Just keep using it normally, it will work itself out. Don't even pay attention to it for a while. Enjoy your phone. Batteries are never covered by warranty, but your carrier may give you another at their discretion.

I had the same problem. Used to charge 100% but for some reason it stopped. Took me phone to center. They took a week to fix it. The next day it charged to 91%! Took it back to BlackBerry center. They gave me new set. After using the new set for a week, I now have the problem again. Heading to center tomorrow.

Hi! I have had this issue for some time now, I don' t reallly know what do: it shows fully charged at 90%! Been losing one percent per charge (when it says fully charged)...now it's 90, who knows, maybe tomorrow it will show charged at 75%) even considering changing the phone, Z10 is no workaholic for me, maybe get the Z30.
