Hello, did you notice that blackberry z10 has the same old way to unlock a screen protected by password? I found it a little boring to type specially when you are in a hurry. But keep it without password is dangerous specially that all your emails are there etc. I know Android has a cool way to unlock screen and iPhone is also easy to unlock. I thought i was doing something wrong but not! To unlock bb screen is like the old fashioned way, type a password in the default keyboard. There so many discussions related to new waves to unlock screen like biometrics, front face recognition, voice recognition etc. BlackBerry 10 has so many new features didn't the engineers think that the present lock screen is not cool and easy?

Look out for simplified password in the next update. It isn't a full keyboard but looks more like a number pad.
That's the best way. Sounds cool, but I wouldn't want to hold the phone to my face each time to scan my biometrics.

That Simple Password option is available in the 10.1 Maintenance Release (10.1.0.4633/4181) that's been rolling out the last week.

Thanks for info I gonna check the numeric keyboard. It is kinda curious that BB developers forgot to put some attention on the password lock screen.

I look forward to this as well. The numbers are easier than the letters but the minimum you can have are 6 so it's still a bit over the top.

Weird that the simple lock screen looks like it was done in a rush... missing buttons or something.

Sure, I remember when I was using an Android phone, people were posting complaints about the "stupid" pattern lock and asking for a numeric key pad.

I have a friend who had facial recognition on her computer. I was able to use it even though we look nothing alike. But we do both wear glasses and have similar haircuts. So no, not a great idea.

Must be. I only have 4 too. Simple lock and ability to reply with a different email account were the 2 must-haves in 10.1 for me.

if facial do not work well.. it can be voice or anything else... it can be typed of some pattern movements on screen... but i has to be something secure and fast very fast to unlock because when u are in a rush typing on the keyboard just to look some messages, etc is very disturbing and sometimes I ended typing the wrong password, because i was walking on street....

    I've mentioned this before.

It would be cool if BlackBerry makes a watch, wristband, or ring with an NFC chip where you can program it once with a lock code. Once your phone is within proximity of your watch or whatever, it will automatically unlock.
