After updating to 10.2.0.1047 I've lost the ability to search and have various websites appear to search from. Even google is gone. Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue or has a fix.

I now need to open the browser and search instead of just typing and hitting enter.

Can you see them when you open the settings, go to search and then click on advanced?

It's there. Just start a search in the browser and you'll see the icon on the top right. Make sure you enable flash btw (it's disabled by default)

There's some change from 10.1 but it's there now as a drop down while searching

Both of you, read his post again. He is clearly saying that he now needs to open the browser for a search, so he was referring to the general search bar from the homescreen.

I also noticed that we can't search from Google or any other website directly from there anymore, which is quite lame since it was faster. I hope that will not be present when official 10.2 comes.

And by the way, the drop down search engine menu in the browser was already there in 10.1.

Unfortunately, they are not there, so it confirms it's not present. Do you know a way to add search options there?

It's there. Maybe you should try reinstall your OS.

OP (and anyone else with this issue), make sure you have the search providers checked off in the Universal Search settings menu (swipe down from the top and hit settings.) As you can see from my screenshot, I want it to search Google but not Yahoo's or VZW's (yeah, no thanks)search engines.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately I don't have those options. Great OS but I've noticed some of the problems people are posting seem to be present for some users and not others. I may try a reinstall.

    Have a great day everyone.

Try resetting the search engines from the browser settings.
If that doesn't work, what happens when you add another search engine?

Before you re-install, I'm running the .1047 leak as well, and do not see search engine options in the global search tool. For everyone else, this has nothing to do with the browser.

Since this is a leak, it's possible that BlackBerry missed out on some things when compiling this version of the OS, so it may not be there for now, but will probably be there with the official OS update, or later leaks.

Tried that, no go. And there is no option to add new search engines anymore, I loved that.

Hmmm... that is weird. maybe it's the autoloader build you used? Though, that wouldn't make much sense since only the radio (and carrier bloatware in the case of the Verizon one) would be different. For what it's worth I got the Z10STL100-4 one and have the search engines available.

Any other STL100-3 on At&t having the same problem?

Okay. So here's what's happening guys. The universal search directly from the homescreen is only available to devices with a physical keyboard; Q10, Q5. It seems to me that this OS (10.2 leak) release is more geared to full touch devices. I too am experiencing the inability to Google from home screen, search the online dictionary etc.

    Q10SQN100-3/10.2.0.1047

I think everyone should sign off on comments by typing their device and OS version. Simply type (myvers) remove the brackets.

    The correct answer is....
As soon as you restore settings the Web search disappears. It is available before the restore. Restoring media and app data don't seen to cause any problems. Though, it may not effect everyone.

Edit: app data from 10.1 breaks the Android player

Hmm.. interesting. Thanks for this finding.

So I could not restore apps because the Android runtime was wrecked, and now I can't restore setting either. Might just reconfigure everything manually after another wipe!

I now updated to 10.2 with Sachesi and my search engines were gone too at first. Tried resetting the search engines with no luck, so I just added DuckDuckGo again which also only showed up in the browser.
I noticed that the hub and my media card were reindexed so I just waited for that to finish. Now that this is done the search engines are back in the search app.
