According to a recent tweet, carriers have been given the 10.1 MR and it should be released soon. Kind of depressing for Verizon users that we may get the 10.1 MR before they even get the original 10.1.

So yes, you will be getting another 10.1 update. Like Kris said, it will bring a few new features and overall performance improvements.

for the love of Thor, many of us in the states just want to see the original 10.1 !!!! What a way to scuttle a fine product ..... leave the quirky version with issues unfixed for several months while the rest of the world has the fix (10.1).

BlackBerry ain't too agile on the software update front. The company is killing itself with a thousand cuts.

    Yes...

I have my Telus SIM armed and ready. I haven't jumped to their 2050 because the 2025 official from Tmo US has been epic for me, but I can't wait to use it to circumvent waiting until late August for this to likely drop on Tmo, and even later for you poor AT&T and Verizon souls.

Any chance VZW will be releasing this 10.1 MR with the rest of the US carriers and skip the "old 10.1"? Or is Verizon waiting for 10.2 to release the first 10.1?

What does "soon" mean exactly? A month? Two? More?

BlackBerry should release the updates over link (awful as that sw is) and be done with it! The waiting is painful for a great many that have to rely on slow carrier roll outs - this just hurts BlackBerry.

That said, thanks Kris and all the others for the leaks!

It mans what it has always meant... Not soon enough.
I've gotten to where I don't believe anything a BB person tweets anymore. Especially this Clewly dude. Unless there is an actual date that can be held against them.

If it's up to the carriers to release it, some of us will be having to wait for months.

Why not have a link on the BlackBerry website that is "hidden" out of the way for those who want their updates quickly and who will take the risk of a "bad" release? They could just have users sign an online waiver by sending an email to their BBID email, so consent would involve intentional clicking on a separate link. There would be no accidental installs and those who install are taking the risk that it can mess up their phone.

We kind of have that now, with Crackberry leaks. You can install any of them at your own risk ect and don't have to wait for your carrier

    No...

Official latest release with stable status from BlackBerry thru Link as an option over latest carrier approved is optimal.

Leaks are not optimal for everyone because no one can guarantee their stability.

It's optimal for the consumer, yes. Unfortunately the carriers would not be happy with BlackBerry if they did that, and they're in no position to be pissing them off.

It is quite possible the carriers couldn't do anything about it because if BlackBerry did something like that, they would be offering an option only, and it would only be available thru Link.

The carriers are most concerned with BlackBerry not OTA pushing non-approved software.

Official releases are just the same as the leaks (except the carrier adds it's bloatware) some of the leaks for example the higher 10.1 leaks are stable
