In Q2, Wall Street expected Blackberry to ship 3.3 million BB10 devices. Blackberry shipped 2.8 million. Why is everyone freaking out over 500,000 devices? It's a big number now to Blackberry, but in the grand scheme of things it really isn't. Blackberry's Q2 was from March to the end of May. In that time, the US Z10 release was staggered during the month of March. The Q10 was staggered in the month of May in the few markets it was available. It's so easy to trash Blackberry, without being fair and objective.

In Blackberry's Q1, some analysts were expecting shipments of 300,000 BB10 devices and a profit loss and instead Blackberry shipped 1 million Z10s and made a small profit. That was more surprising than being short 500,000 devices in Q2.

A new OS takes time to pickup steam. A good example of this is Nokia. Like Blackberry's BB7, Nokia has a legacy OS in Symbian - a line that cannot be upgraded to the newer OS (i.e. Windows Phone 8). From July to September 2012, Nokia shipped 2.9 million Lumia (Windows 8) phones. The next quarter Microsoft spent a billion dollars marketing Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone 8 and Nokia shipped 4.4 million Lumia phones and 5.6 million the quarter after that. They aren't setting the world on fire, but slowly and surely they are building up subscribers.

I think it's a safe bet, the same thing is happening with BB10. How many BB10 devices do you think BBRY will sell in the next quarter? 3.5 million? 4million? 5 million?

It's easy to tear something down quickly, but it always takes time to build something good.

They're upset cause they didn't meet analyze expectation and shareholders are losing money. While for me, It doesn't affect me whatsoever. People are buying BB10 even if the sales are slow, they're still selling. A couple quarters cant simply determines a company's fate. BlackBerry are not going anywhere soon...

Impatiently waiting for that A10 phone to be release...

It's going to be a hard ride to the top of the hill. But It's understandable because those numbers are shipped not sold which is the big issue with BB10 at the moment
