Hey guys, an annoying problem here. I lost my Z10 yesterday so I decided to go ahead and get a Q10 instead and when I tried to restore the last backup file I had, BlackBerry Link told me that my device software is incompatible. I'm perplexed because I have the latest software update installed on this phone. Any solutions? Please? I'm in dire need of aid.

Probably the version on your Z10 was higher than the Q10 version (strange, but could be - did you get the 10.1 update?)

Try installing a leaked 10.1 version on your Q10, at that point it will be an higher version and it will restore

Z10 and Q10 have different softwares. I would not restore Z to Q. Ever.

BB Link is a piece of s*it, but it allows device transfers
It just transfers settings and app data, doesn't install the whole operating system

Agreed 100% on not mixing backups between Z10's and Q10's.

I just finished doing this because I was in the exact same situation as OP. It works, but it does quirky things. My Remember app folders are mushed (probably a resolution thing), BB Link legit thinks my Q10 is now a Z10, the typing suggestions started popping up (easy to turn off), All my synced calendars, contacts, emails, accounts, etc. had to be re-initialized, and I was afraid of what else I would find, so basically I'm restoring the backup I saved (thank god) just before trying this little experiment.

Also, I didn't install a leak, I used http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...-tools-824364/ to trick BB Link into thinking my Z10 backup was the older version. Darcy's program worked perfectly and as it should, it's just I wasn't willing to deal with the consequences.

All I needed was the Remember app entries, my browser bookmarks/history, and word substitution entries moved over, but not I'm going to live without, and wait until a newer OS is available for download on the Q10. Then I won't update the Z10, and just transfer over properly.

Worse yet, I think BB Link just froze on me in the middle of my restore to my original Q10 settings. I'm about to rage. Don't do what I did.

I switched from a Z10 (stl100-1) to another Z10 (stl100-2) and restoring the backup broke the android Runtime.
Blackberry link it's an useless piece of sh**

What I'm concerned about is BlackBerry is not or doesn't seem to be making any attempt at cleaning up BlackBerry Link and making it work properly. What I'd really like to see is BlackBerry Link/Device manager all rolled into one so we can have all BB's backed up in one place.
