I know it's OT, but so many posters in these boards are Canadian that I figured it due here.

Stay safe, stay dry. We're pulling for all of you caught in harms way. I've gone through flooding (2008) and understand the stress. God bless.

I have a friend who just moved out there for school and work. Glad to know he's safe though.

Thanks for the support. We're going to make it through just fine. Nothing can set back Calgarians!

    Cheers.

This morning is the first time some off us get to go back home. Some evacs are being lifted. If you live outside the evac areas, there's no sign of panic or if anything out of the ordinary happened. It's such a contrast.

We're going to fight and make it on time for Stampede.

I'm sure the city of Calgary will get through this. I've heard they got some big *** water pumps underway to get this cleaned up.

Yes, most likely most of downtown will be operable by mid week. We have engineers looking at each building - its foundation and roads and utilities around it.

We lost some history. A lot of old village and small mom and pop shops are going to need to be torn down. Some of my favorite places have been destroyed (fun places in Bragg creek / high river / Canmore)

But we were very lucky. We are a province of many and team together well.

We had several casualties and a lot of damage. But mostly we have a lot of people that just want to go home.

I've been very fortunate. But some if my family works in EMS - and my mom worked a few 24 hour days. I probably would have been too if I didn't sell my soul and leave EMS for oil and gas.

But we've been fortunate - this could have been much, much worse.. and.we have a great mayor right now.
