The Z10 takes great pictures for being a camera phone. However, when I send pictures that I took with the phone, including screen shots, through a text message, people say the picture is to grainy and difficult to view.

Has anyone experience this? What's the deal?

Your carrier is compressing the file.

If you want the receiver end to get the original quality picture email it.

Why would a carrier compress files sent by me? Is there a size limit through MMS?

That's just how MMS works, they aren't picking on you. Videos are nearly unwatchable when sent through MMS.

Think you could also use Whatsapp. Don't recall it compressing it, or at least not as much.

On the contrary, pictures that are sent to my phone are not grainy, but rather good quality as if it wasn't compressed.

I have the same carrier as them.

It actually is compression on the Zed as it is being sent. This happens to videos and pictures sent to Facebook as well. I do believe it started with 10.1 as it used to take a while to send files and now it finishes in a flash. Only exception is when you send it using the website through the browser. I hope 10.2 fixes this issue!
