Does anyone know if sideloaded apps can use Bluetooth? I tried sideloading 2 apps, Torque Pro and Dash Command, which are digital dash programs that communicate with a Bluetooth OBD2 vehicle interface (to check engine codes, etc). Neither of the two applications can see the Bluetooth dongle which is paired with the BB Z10. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the apps, or if the android runtime does not allow sideloaded apps access to the Bluetooth radio.

    Thanks in advance.

Torque is now available in the app world but needs a special non adhoc wifi dongle for it to work (that is until an os update allows the bluetooth serial port in Android).

There is a very recent forum about it somewhere:

Hmm... I am unsure if the current android player supports all bluetooth functions, maybe someone more educated on the matter can respond

As of this moment, serial over Bluetooth is not supported in the Android Player. It may be included when Android 4.2 support is finished, but it has yet to surface on any of the 10.2 Beta leaks. Side loading with the dev token won't fix it either. It's just not implemented yet.

It may be one of the last services to be included in the 10.2 Android player if they include it at all. In other words, don't hold your breath.

Not supported doesn't mean it won't work. It means exactly that, not supported, meaning BlackBerry won't offer support (help you).
In any case, the URL you provided answered my question, thank you.
