Hello, a proud Z10 user and I love BB10. My wife and I have AT&T, she has the 9900 and wants to upgrade to the Q10 but we will have To wait. But I ran across a Q10 on Verizon for a really good deal. If I unlock this phone, will it work on AT&T? Thanks for any help.

Verizon uses CDMA, while AT&T uses GSM. Those technologies are not compatible, which is why in rural areas one might work and one might not. One company might have service, but the other can't roam on it because the platforms aren't compatible. I don't keep super up to date on new phone developments, but unless there's a phone out with both CDMA and GSM, the short answer is that a Verizon phone won't work on an AT&T network, and vice-versa.

Yeah I figured but I heard that it can run on GSM like the Storm 9550. Not sure if it's the same or not. Thanks!

It should work, check this thread out:

The Verizon model seems to support different frequencies, and should work not only on ATT but Tmobile as well ;-)

Yep it works perfectly..it only gets hspa but it works perfectly. It's like it almost turns it into a AT&T Q10..the spash screen changes from Verizon to AT&T and you can even buy apps and do carrier billing to your AT&T account.

Yup i can confirm. Verizon Q10 comes unlocked from Verizon and when I put a Att sim card it gets 4G (h+) service. I've actually been using it for about a week now lol.

Confirmed here as working with HSPA+ connectivity on AT&T. Just pop in your sim and your good to go.

The VZW Q10 is factory unlocked for use on ANY GSM carrier but only one CDMA VZW obviously.

No problem. If you ask your Verizon rep if the phone is Unlocked they probably have no clue lol. I asked several and they said no its locked to just Verizon service. Well I purchased it anyway and it's definitely unlocked lol. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Works like a charm on At&t

Same here! It works perfect and fast on the 4G H+..completely transforms it into a AT&T Q10..just no LTE, which I'm fine with.

Yeah, Verizon phone is World or Global version, so it will work on many different networks.

Haha. Awesome! Looks like I will pick one up. Thanks for the heads up. Looks like she will get the Q10. H+ is quick enough I'm sure. Go BlackBerry!

That is why I decided to stick with Verizon, instead of T-Mobile, in case I have a bad experience, I can easily move over to T-Mobile or AT&T.

How does one make the switch? I tried this yesterday could not get the at&t network (after installing the at&t sim card). Do you have to do a OS update or anything?

Be sure that under the Mobile Network settings that the device is set for either Global or LTE/HSPA+/UMTS/GSM. If it's set to CDMA/LTE then you likely won't be able to get any kind of data signal. Also: were you using an active SIM with a data plan on it, or just a voice only SIM?
