So, I've had my BB Q10 (vs .238, no carrier updates available yet) for about a month now (since May 6th), and haven't had any problems with sending mms attachments whatsoever, until yesterday. No other problems with the phone generally, and no problems with network, internet, browser, data, sms, sending/receiving email, etc.

Now I'm having a problem with not being able to send or receive mms with attachments of any kind, which really sucks, because having unlimited mms/pic messaging, I use mms to send pics a lot, instead of via email which costs me data. When I try to send an mms with attachment, this is what it looks like:








I'm with Virgin Mobile Canada (subsidiary of Bell) and have a gold plan with unlimited nation wide calls, unlimited sms/mms/pic and 2gb data, so I should have no problem at all. These are the things I've tried, so far:

1) tried with mobile network and data services enabled (also turned off and on repeatedly)
2) tried with wifi, with network and data enabled
3) resetting / rebuilding the HUB
4) removing apps
5) restarted phone several time
6) BB 10 'battery pull' by holding the power button down, as well as physically removing battery/sim and putting them back in
7) checked all SMS/MMS basic and advanced settings (all gtg, although unsure of what the correct Service Centre addy should be)
8) Tried changing between LTE and HSPA+/HSPA
9) checked APN settings to see if it had been wiped out but it's set (but not greyed out) to blackberry, so can't change it to try Bell/Virgin setting
10) changed routing preference from "Circuit Switched Preferred" to "Packed Switched Preferred"
11) even tried removing and adding back contacts, to make sure it wasn't a problem


Virgin Mobile support say there is no trouble at all at their end with mms and my account. Will try what 2nd tier VMC tech team suggested, to try a new SIM when I can get to a kiosk. If that doesn't work, then think I may possibly be screwed. lol

The only other thing I haven't tried yet is completely wiping the phone and reinstalling the OS. Understandably, I really want to leave that as a last resort, especially considering how many people are having problems with BB Link. Ughh. Suggestions welcome.

It seems this is not an isolated problem, as I have found quite a few threads where people had the same problem that I am having now.

Now now. It's not so bad.
I fixed mine with a leaked firmware.

lol It is a problem when you use it a lot, and I do. On my plan I have unlimited sms/mms, so it saves on data usage sending pics via mms, since I have limited data. Would be nice to be able to get unlimited data, but can't get it where I'm located.

As for leaks, I prefer to wait for official releases. Hopefully, my carrier will push one out...some day. lol

Well, I was finally able to make it into my local kiosk and switch out and activate a new SIM, to see if that was the issue or not. Disappointed to say it wasn't the SIM card. This was my last troubleshooting measure, before trying a complete wipe of the phone. So it seems it's an issue with my Q10 and not my carrier. Sighhh...If wiping it to factory condition doesn't fix it, then I guess I'm screwed. Maybe a future OS update, if wiping it doesn't solve my mms issue.

Update: the newest MR release fixed my MMS issue of not be being able to send or receive attachment via texting. Very happy camper!

Updated my Q10 to latest OS and now I cannot send or receive texts with pics ... just get a message saying there is a pic with a "Download Now" button that, when clicked, does nothing. This feature worked fine until the last update (10.1.0.4181). My email settings were also tampered with by the update but was able to just re-confirm them and it worked okay. I am stumped on the picture text issue though. Can anyone help?

I'm also having the same issue with the recent update. My Q10 is unlocked on AT&T. I spent a good 2 hrs on the phone with their advanced customer support and it's still not working. They made sure everything was provisioned correctly in their system and thought at first it was a SIM issue. It wasn't because I put the same SIM in my Z10 and I can receive MMS on it. I tried changing my APN settings without any results. I'll be forced to either restore to a previous OS or jump forward to the latest leaked 10.2. Probably the latter because I don't see AT&T pushing their official update for some time.

This sounds similar to my problem with the MMS. Also, my email logs out occasionally and I have to re-enter my password. It happens most often with Yahoo, but Gmail has done it a few times too. I have the same update you have (which was the most recent when I got my phone). Have you found a resolution?

Hi, did you get a resolution to your mms download issue? i am having the same experience with my Z30 where i get a "download now" button when i receive an mms picture from someone. very annoying
