Umm where did you see this? Im from SA too, and Ive heard nothing of the sorts.
But for the record BlackBerry is still highly popular here, particularly legacy OS since we have really cheap BIS packages.
For a spot of proof... BlackBerry is the COOLEST brand in South Africa for the third year running
