I thot the automatic shutdown of my BlackBerry z10 was due to OS update but its not. Updated to OS 10.2.1 but still the problem persist. Tried all the suggestions never worked.

Tried inserting a piece of paper within the battery and the phone. And no automatic shutdown since last monday February 4, 2014. Thanks to those who posted their BlackBerry experiences. Maybe because my phone fall many times and might cause the battery and phone to not fit the way it used to be. And now its back and working well without random shutdoqn. BlackBerry I still am a fan.

I've had my phone since it was first avial on T-Mo USA. I had reboots while on the old 10.0 then it stopped when I went to 10.1. About the same time I bought a battery bundle. All was good for a while then started getting blue screen and reboots again. Went to 10.2, did not change. Note: 90% of the time these reboots would happen while texting or writing an email. (Read the same from others as well).

I tried to see if the battery was loose (and should be shimmed) but even with the back off and trying to move the battery around in it's space, no reboots. So finally the Homer Simpson in me gave up and put a tiny bit of business card at the end of my battery... and that stopped it. So, I guess what was happening was... it wasn't moving left/right, but out toward the battery back. Holding the phone as I do when texting etc, then pressing down was -- apparently -- enough to push the battery a tiny bit backwards. Whether from the removable back flexing or, just the position. FWIW.

On my z10 STL 100-2 OS 10.2.1.2102, carrier orange France.
the reboot is still present once a month... Mainly during the night! My battery is well locked no space for a pice of paper ...
I sow a tips in one of the multiple forum on this issue: to insert a piece of plastic. I was surprised to see a different Z10 ! See below mine.

I've never really had issues with reboots but lately I've noticed that my phone shuts off when I'm riding my bike or my motor scooter.
The vibration of the scooter?
Surely my pants aren't so tight that the motion of pedaling is turning it off.
Besides I'm old, I don't wear tight pants!

Use some paper to shim the battery. Either at the bottom to push the battery against the contacts or elsewhere to keep the battery from moving if bumped.
