Looking to the progression of BlackBerries, and the new BB OS 10 devices, IMO BlackBerry as yet to design such a classic and iconic device like the Bold 99XX services. It's like having a everything a smartphone should be design as. Not getting into the internal specs, admiring such a classic and from years from now will still be thought of that way. This is the Shelby Mustang of Smartphone devices. Kudos RIM designiners of 2009-2010.

From a hardware design, ergonomic, and build perspective, I think BlackBerry has always gotten it right. The 9900 is the epitome of that. It was the software and the hardware specs that were the issue on the later legacy devices when compared to its competitors.

I really miss my 9900 (gave it to my cousin in Vietnam when I got the Z10), I'm tempted to pick up the Q10 too when it is released here in the states, as I do not want to fork up more money than I need to to get it online. For now, the Z10 is more than fine for me, but something about touching and typing on a physical keyboard just does it for me.

Whenever I would carry my 9900 out of its case, I would get quite a few compliments on it as in their and my opinion, it was a beautiful device.

I do believe that the Q10 will nicely fill that role going forward. In a few years you will hear people talking about the Q10 like people talk about the 9000 or the 9900.

I have the Z10 but loved my Bold 9900 and miss some of the typing experience. I find it hard to type know my Z without the keyboard sound. The 9900 was definitely iconic. Just a gorgeous phone.

The q10 is in my opinion, much like the sleek don't worry the exterior, just look at he specs. The 99XX series is all a outing user experiences design and assdedtics did. The 1st day I got it, I would just look at it and look at it...such a huge departure from previous BlackBerrys.

Yes the Bold 99xx is a culmination of all the best parts of BlackBerrys that led up to it. The one WTH aspect of it is the non auto focus camera.

I'd say that the crown goes to BlackBerry Bold 9700. Exactly the perfect form at the height of BlackBerry. I feel 9900 to be a bit wider than 9700, and it affects the way I hold the phone.

loved my 9900, even the straight keys mess me up on the q10.. I really think the straight keys were a step backwards in terms of ergonomics

I have always said the 9900 was the perfect phone... except for one thing... the camera... If they made a more powerful 9900 with a better camera I would be first in line to get one. Im sure there are tons of other people out there that feel the same way...

    Really ? Would you ?

At least would you not want to upgrade the battery at the same time ... perhaps the processor too ?
You should get together with BelfastDispatcher and ask for a 9900S.

The Q10 looks better than my 9900 IMHO. Definitely had more charisma when I saw it in the wild today.

I agree with you .. not on the width issue ... god knows that the Q has a teeny weeny screen... but the 9700 has the most Blackberry of Blackberry looks. If BB was a Jaguar the 9700 might be an XKE. The back of the Q is some what 9700 like. The back of the 9900 is very cheap in my eyes. I like the rounder sides of the Q vs the 9900 also.

I think that the Z could have used some more 9700 bling ... more BB DNA required.

Yes that is what I meant by more powerful. Faster processor, more ram, more storage, hdmi out, better screen resolution, etcmmm

Draft name of a potential 9900 upgrade if they were to build it.
