I keep experiencing a problem whereby whatsapp freezes and i can't close it by swiping up or get to the hub or do anything.

Is anyone else experiencing this and have any suggestions?

I am running the latest software available in the UK. On the Vodafone network. And using the native app from bb world.

My only solution is to hold down the power button until the phone restarts.

The problem has happened in normal chats, when sending a picture from the camera app and when viewing an image sent from a chat.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I've had this happen to me once since updating to 10.1. I ended up having to do a battery pull.

I'm with Vodafone UK and i had an issue when I first updated to 10.1
The app would go to a black screen if I tried to post from the hub,but I removed it and reinstalled it and it cured it.
What I have noticed is sometimes a message can take an age to go and then other times its instant.

This issue is not specific to BB10. Whatsapp seems to preload the entire chat history every time, instead of reloading only the most recent chunk and keeping the rest in memory or in the cloud. The easiest way to solve this is to clear your chat history. Go to the chat that's taking long to load, click the overflow key where you normally go to send a picture/file/etc. and click "Clear Conversation." I hope that helps.

Are you on WIFI?! It may help to clear the history but I find this problem with the WIFI and especially if moving in an out.

Bet if you turn off radio and use WIFI only, the Whatsapp won't freeze..or is much less likely to do so. Obviously not a long term solution but this little test will help to isolate some errors--or assure reliability if in a "must" situation for using phone.

Your problem is related to the overall freeze, and sometimes reboot, issues. Your WIFI connected Z device will freeze under certain, all too frequent, operating conditons.

I have had the same issue with me, had to perform a battery pull, twice in two days now. Strangely when I first updated to 10.1 it didn't happen, only appeared recently.
