Betty Ericson couldn't sleep, again. Was it being in another hotel room? Her job as a saga bounty hunter took her to many strange places. This time it took her to the small town of Saga. Saga, a isolated hamlet in the deep south was founded in the 2050's. Since that time the town has always had an offspring named after the founder, Samuel L. Saga. The latest Samuel L.Saga was an eccentric man in his 40s, smarter then anyone else in Saga, and suspicious of everything and everyone.
As a matter of fact he was the reason Betty had been ordered to Saga in the first place. She had read Samuel's confidential saga file on the way there and then deleted it from her 12TB biosynaptic memory card.
Could be worse she thought thinking back to her last assignment. Chasing a saga through the most unstable time portal to the planet Saga located in the Saga system.
She looked at her chronometer, 5 minutes to a new sagaday when the town awakens from its imposed slumber. The town of Saga was like the rest of North America, South America, Europe, Asia. Entire populations would "shutdown" everynight in order to conserve the world's energy.
The testing of "Shutdown" began in the late 21st century, not without controversy, and now over a century later the entire earth had adopted the process. The entire earth except the now notorious Sagas, beings that did not shutdown at night.
