Hi guys, i would really some advice, my 8520 trackpad is not working, im wondering whether or not a bold 9700 trackpad will work on it, I know the orientations of the copper strips are off and i was wondering whether bending it to align properly would be a smart idea. please leave your thoughts and whether or not you have tried it too to let me know.

From my understanding the connections between the 8520 trackpad and the 9700 trackpad are very different. I would think it would be just as easy to replace it with the proper trackpad. I believe the price of a new one for 8520 is around $5 US.

This wouldn't work, as middbrew said the 9700 and 8520 trackpads are very different. Somtimes (this happened with my 9300 a lot) the trackpad just picks up dirt and just needs a bit of cleaning! Remove it carefully and use a cloth to rub off any dirt. If it is not the case, you can purchase trackpads online.
