Does virtual keyboard exist on q10 like on z10, by swiping with two fingers from the bottom. ( for example if I wanna type Chinese or any different languages)

Not as far as I can tell, besides I think that would take up pretty much your entire screen.

The only virtual keypad on the Q10 is when you press the "sym" key or the phone apps keypad.

I installed chinese input, and can type chinese in "pinyin". There are also other input methods available, like hand writing.
And you shift between input languages by pressing "alt + enter"

I would love an Arabic keyboard for the Q10. Even if it's just like the Symbols pop up we get.

I installed both input methods - handwriting, and typing. And you can choose between different installed language input methods by "alt + enter".

I'm thinking this only works in some other languages that require letters or symbols not found on the English keyboard, correct?

Does anyone know if the hand writing works with Cyrillic? Also someone mentioned that holding down the "sym" key brings up a keyboard. Does it? Or is it just a symbols keyboard and not a full one?

A virtual keyboard is useful, not just for foreign languages, but also for typing in bed!!!

It's a pain to use a physical keyboard while lying on your back.

I found a way to install a virtual keyboard on the Q10 - albeit with the following two limitations:
    1. Can only be used within Android apps
    2. Can only use EITHER virtual or physical keyboard at any one time, you will need to go back to settings to change back to physical keyboard. Only "Bkspc" and "shift" physical keys will work when using virtual keyboard.

    How to get it:
    1. Open google playstore (install via cobalts instructions) - download & install google keyboard. Open app and complete keyboard setup.
    2. Install "android settings" app from cobalt's website / search within forums.
    3. Open android settings, go to Language & Input, change default keyboard to google keyboard.
    4. Now open up any android app with a text entry field and you'll have your virtual keyboard open!

You can re-do step 3. to revert to physical keyboard.

Yes, as someone who uses Chinese and Japanese among others, I have always found it strange the Chinese can be both handwritten and typed, while Japanese can only be typed on the BB.

Odd. But efficient in both languages. Alt + Enter is so fast and efficient. Even one handed in a pinch on a train I can accomplish!

Why would you want a vkb? The screen is small enough already???

The google keyboard height can be adjusted within the app settings actually, it is quite use able and doesn't occupy as much space as I thought it would.

There are various reasons for using a vkb (apart from different language input); a few I can think of are:
    1. Thumbs are sore from typing a lot on the physical keyboard.
    2. You want to quietly type away at night without the clicking noises.
    3. Your physical keyboard is damaged and some keys don't work.
    4. You're lazy and want to use gesture typing.
