I have used maps on BB10 before and yesterday on leaked 10.1. They seemed greatly improved, it now gives directions list while in navigation pane, improved controls, accurate routing and re-routing. The GPS accuracy is top notch. IMO Maps went from being one of the weakest to one of the best in BB10.

EDIT : It now even announces traffic along the way while navigating. Also if you have observed it now gives the subsequent announcements following the next one if they are in quick succession (say in few ft.). Re-routing is very fast and was done once I went past 100ft the intended turn.

Things I would like to see in future versions:
    1) Currently it picks the addresses directly from hub say email, calendar or text message but not the browser.
    2) Cannot move around in the navigation pane and for that you will need to go in to the overview (by clicking the icon). Something on the lines of vector graphics in Google Maps.
    3) Pin a place to add as favorite
    4) Drag drop marker for alternate routes

Check out some screenshots hereMaps are greatly improved in OS 10.1-img_00000001.jpgMaps are greatly improved in OS 10.1-img_00000002.jpgMaps are greatly improved in OS 10.1-img_00000003.jpgMaps are greatly improved in OS 10.1-img_00000004.jpg

BlackBerry maps may have lack a lot of the features of say Google maps, but the turn by turn navigation was in my opinion superior to Google's.

Can you drop pins for locations to add to favorites without an address now? That's the only feature I want and missed with maps. If they included that IMO, the maps will be perfect!

that's exactly what I want too. otherwise the map is just dumb, plus sometimes the addresses are not searchable from the map.

aint tested it yet.But from last time found it fine. All it needed was an on foot walking version for us finding buildings.I have never seen a map with pedestrian turn by turn. Not actually sure why no ones tryed that would help when in parts of city you don't know.

    No it is not....

But for a first map effort it wasn't terribly bad... These improvement on 10.1 should bring it on par with apple maps...

Is it me, or does maps only have the ability to route you to a shopping center's designated main entrance off a public street? If I reroute and go in a back entrance, and pull up at my actual destination's front door, Maps is still trying to route me back to the useless main shopping center entrance. That is one of the main differences between BlackBerry Maps and Google Maps...commercial/shopping property details. I do believe that turn by turn instructions are better on BlackBerry though, all the way up until you leave a public street. Commercial / shopping properties can be huge, so I usually have to switch to visual mode then or pull up Google Maps.

Telmap navigator had turn by turn pedestrian. I don't know if the latest version works on bb 10.

I was pretty happy with maps when using it in Canada last weekend (GTA) but this week in upstate NY it let me down. I had to find addresses in Google and paste them into maps. Maps didn?t find quite a few things that Google had no trouble with.

Are the routes better? The initial version of BlackBerry maps usually takes me on the shortest route distance wise but far from the quickest time wise. This was really frustrating when I was in DC recently.

BlackBerry Maps seems to find a lot of addresses and place names that just just confuse my Garmin unit. Helped me find a birthday party held at a municipal park site that is an event location in the boonies outside of town. Even the city website didn't list an address for the place, but my BlackBerry found it by name after we spent 30 minutes looking for it, and 4 different sets of directions from family referring to "You remember, that old tree where Jimmy crashed . . . "

Finally remembered BlackBerry maps and all was well.
