Does anyone with a Dev Alpha C, feel like extracting the Skype .bar using Sachup for the Z10 owners that won't get 10.1 till mid-May?

Go in Android Side loading forum and you'll find it. It doesn't work but, there might be a solution involving extracting the runtime from the 10.1 that runs on the DAC/Q10 and side loading it to the leaked 10.1 version for Z10

They said they didn't use the usual extraction programs so I'm guessing something to do with developer only sdks.

Actually it should only involve extracting and side loading the Runtime .bar (sys.android.bar) from the Dev Alpha C or Q10 to a Z10 running the leaked 10.1 OS, and then extracting and then sideloading Skype

Well, I have a DevC and Skype running. I don't think Sachup extracts anyting as is just to upgrade/downgrade firmwares.

Also the old method of backing up the whole device and decompressing the resulting file no longer works as the Blackberry Link locks the backup file (unlike the old desktop manager).

I presume their methods are completely different and involves doing something through the SDK, Ripple and the device connected.

Since it's an android app, maybe use an android app like App Backup Restore to get the .apk and repackage it?

That's actually a really good idea. I'm going to try that on an Android app on my Z10 today and see if it works

Don't think it'll work since apparently it needs to be signed using a special key

Since when can you install .apk in BB10?

Is not as easy as that. First is a bloody .BAR file you install and you can't use an android app that might require root access to backup an apk that doesn't exist.

FFS people, are you even thinking before posting this nonsense here?

My advise: wait for the bloody Skype to be launched officially and stop wasting your precious neurons.

Android apps for BB10 are apks in an archive that's been signed and renamed to a .bar. The apk exists on BB10, and on Android itself you don't need root access to access the apps directory.

I can't extract the bar, I can only extract the apk, because android does not protect the apps from being copied

Magenetic_dud -> Your APK did not work, unfortunately. I converted it to a BAR and signed with my keys and it force closes on startup.
Tried it on my Rogers Z10 running 10.0.10.85

Next to try is changing the minimum sdk in the Android manifest
