I've not broken (or even scratched) a phone in what must be at least ten years, but now my Z10 slipped out of my pocket and the screen is completely shattered. Call it Fate, karma, whatever, but I am left with the option of selling it off as it is on eBay or actually fixing the screen - and I wish to do the latter. So my Q1 is -

Q1. Anyone know of a reliable Repairs place in the UK who wont rip me off completely?

The lowest quotation I have got so far is �160 for screen plus labour, which seems reasonable although still quite steep. Which brings me to the next Question -

Q2. Is there a way to fix just the glass on the screen? my LCD is lighting up fine and showing up stuff as normal.

Please help!

Considering the price of a display on ebay, the 160 quote you were given is very reasonable. And probably the best you'll get unless you undertake the work yourself.

It's hard to say. But there aren't many people offering the screen. I would have thought in 6 months the prices may come down due to competitiveness. But full smartphone displays are usually very costly anyway.

�160 for screen plus labour - OUCH! That's silly - I just picked up a Z10 from Carphone Warehouse in the UK SIM Free off contract for �189 about 3 days ago (because my Q10 needs to go to the spa and I really like BB10 - ok, it was a good excuse to get a Z10 as well!!)

They are selling the Z10 for �149 on Pay as you go at the moment - although I think they may be SIM locked.
