Did anyone on Crackberry take the plunge today and buy the Z10 on Mobilicity? I have a 9780 (with Mobi), and I'm a little hesitant to upgrade before I hear some positive impressions of the phone on Mobi's network. I've resisted buying an unlocked Z10 because of the troubles some people have been having with getting their data working.

So, please help out a fellow Mobi user with some impressions!

Not sure if anyone has, but, remember you have X days to return the device if you're not happy. Plus they will reverse your upgrade, too...

I tried to, but they said that that particular store could only sell to new customers and that I had to go to the stores listed in the Mobi site to buy a Z10. Another reason why I want carriers banned from selling phones. But I digress...

The store did say they would sell me an unlocked Z10 for $650, which surprised me.

In the end, I decided to buy the Z10 from tekshop.ca, which was selling it for $585. If you're in the Mississauga area, you can go and pick it up instead of having it shipped. I haven't received the phone yet (I ordered it just a few hours ago.) I should have it by Friday.

I ended up buying it online from tekshop.ca. They listed two versions of the Z10, one as LTE Roger Bell Telus, and the other listed as 3G Wind Mobilicity. Of course, I ordered the Moilicity one. They sent me the 91LW model. I claimed they made an error, but they said that both phones listed are in fact the same 91LW model. So now I have to return it. But I first want to find out which version Mobilicity sells. I asked BB what the difference between the models was, but they never replied. I smell something fishy.

barton, I'm looking to get a White STL100-3 RFK121LW for use on Tmobile USA. I asked them what model the BKB-Z10-AWS-WHT was and they said they will ship either the 121lw or 91lw. They claim both have the same bands after they tested.

Hmmm, did you speak with the US site ? I spoke with the Canadian site. They said they'll source the 121LW and ship it to me at no extra charge, but I'll have to return the 91LW at my expense, which sucks. I mean, they advertised the item as "3G Wind Mobilicity" and then listed the specs for the 121LW. I really shouldn't have to pay anything. Sucks . I was so looking forward to getting the phone on Friday.

My concern with the 91LW is that BB will disable the 3G/1700MHz just as Google recently disabled LTE functionality in their Nexus 4 after they discovered that users had figured out how to enable it -- LTE is not officially supported by the Nexus 4, just as 3G/1700MHz isn't supported by the 91LW. What a mess.

I got my hands on an unlocked/ unbranded (straight from BB) stl100-3 Rxx121xx black z10.

    I came from a 9900 on Mobi.

I clipped my sim to size, plugged it in, did an update and everything worked on the first try.

My plan appears to retain BIS but since I'm F&F, it does't cost me any more.

Only interesting thing is: on my 9900 it'd say "3G".... on the z10 it says "4G"

No complaints- works like a charm after updating the OS to .10.85

Nice. How did you get the phone straight from BB ? What's "F&F" ?

I just checked the Mobilicity site and it claims the Z10 they sell is only tri-band UMTS/HSPA whereas the 121LW specs listed on GSM Arena state that the 121LW is penta-band UMTS/HSPA. Very interesting. Mr. Conviviality, what do the specs say on your phone ? I really hope BB isn't creating crippled phones -- making them tri-band when they can make them penta-band.

not sure where to find them on the phone itself (the specs) unless there's an engineering screen way to confirm...
However, when I do a scan for available networks though, they ALL come up- "Mobilicity 4G / Rogers Wireless 4G / Telus 4G / Wind 4G / Bell 4G"

F&F is "Friends and Family"... the first 6 months following Mobi's release they had a great promo offering their all-in plan "for life" for $35. I don't plan on giving that up anytime soon

The specs are not in the phone. We have to trust the docs, which appear to be lying to us. :-)

The one I bought from Tekshop.ca ended up being the 91LW. I've been using it for the past 2 days and it works perfectly, getting speeds of 2.25Mbps/0.5Mbps. Though, I did have to sign up for the BB add-on, which they claim will be free from the 2nd month on.

That's one hell of a deal you got there. I got the deal where I get any plan for $30/month for 12 months, which I'm very happy with.
