- Please before I go any further can we refrain from frustrating posts regarding "this will be fixed in the next update", please please for the sake of my sanity!!!
I have numerous issues with this piece of coding but at the moment the one that frustrates me the most is hub setting!
In settings/hub management I have my setting as follows:
Email accounts = on
BBM = off
Text messages = off
Twitter = off
Calls = off
Voicemail = off
You already guessed didn't you. Yes your correct, when I go into the control screen it still displays all my BBM messages, text messages, twitter, calls and voicemail. Forget notifications at this time because my notifications only work AFTER the event.
Ok this is simple. I don't require workarounds, reboots, battery pulls, I just want to know if there is any possible way to disable this damn useless hub altogether and return to normality?
Please say yes!!!kolok likes this.04-11-13 08:24 AMLike 1 - No.
Disabling an account only prevent the message from being displayed in the Hub. You will still have all the accounts displayed on the control screen.

In the meantime, do a battery pull while drinking 8 oz of luke warm water while staring at a life-sized poster of Thorsten Heins. Re-insert your battery while you still have 1 oz of water left in your glass. When the Z10 starts to reboot, stare deeply into the Blackberry logo pushing it every 3.4 seconds. When it hits 53% (not 52% or 54% but exactly 53%) sing the Canadian national anthem to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner. When it boots up, swipe upwards then to the left then to the right then upwards again. After those swipes are performed in precisely that order, go into Blackberry World and find Skype -- since you won't find it, you're basically screwed.04-11-13 08:29 AMLike 48 - What do you mean by control screen? Do you mean list that you get when you select "Hub"?
Works fine for me when I disabled Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
What's annoying me though is that it shows my sent items mixed in with the inbox. So much clutter. Sure I can hide it using the dropdown arrow and the tree control, but why should I have to do this? The default should be just the inbox. If I want to see the sent items, then I'll ask for the sent items.04-11-13 08:30 AMLike 0 - Still some kinks to be worked out. There are many smug and arrogant "power users" here who think BlackBerry still has 90% market share and everything is perfect the way it is. The hub does indeed need some attention.

Posted via CB10sad_old_man likes this.04-11-13 08:40 AMLike 1 - Before we go any further, let's ensure we're all on the same page. In the Hub, there is the unified inbox (HUB) and a varying number of filters depending on how many accounts you have associated with it. The listing on the far left side (if you swipe all the way over to the left) lists ALL the accounts that are associated with the Hub, regardless of whether they are turned "on" or "off." That way, you can still access those lists at any time. When you go into settings and turn things "on" or "off" what you are doing is deciding if the notifications will show up in your unified inbox (the Hub option at the top of the list). So if you are looking at your unified inbox, only those items set to "on" will show up there. You still get notifications for the other items, you can still see them in the filter options, etc. That does not get turned off.
I've discovered that you can only have five items showing in the unified inbox at any given time. Everything still shows in the filters, but only five of them show up in the unified inbox. I imagine that's done to prevent the inbox from getting cluttered and potentially slowed down by too many things in there at once.
I'm not seeing the issue with the Hub, personally, but that's just me. I'm satisfied with the way my Hub works. That's not to say that no one is having trouble, I'm just stating everything works fine for me.

On my BB9900 I kept all of my messaging apps/icons together (BBM, Text, Email, Email). The hub simply makes this easier and gives me all my messages + notifications in 1 place ...... the Hub.
I understand from the above post that some don't like it or find it annoying.
On the amusing side to me .......... people have been making apps that effectively do the same thing and people can't seem to get enough of them in the App stores (HootSuite, TweetDeck, SocialScope, etc.etc.). I know there are many more that merge messaging and/or social networking. People have been downloading (paying $$) and using apps for things like this for at least a couple of years........ and now when this is provided native ...... others act like it is a problem. Anyway ...... I find it amusing.
Again, I certainly understand from reading that some are annoyed with it and some would like some additional control options. I hope some alternative is provided to make it useful for you.playzoutside likes this.04-11-13 09:14 AMLike 1 - The next OS update will fix that.

I really hope BB sorts these next gen phones out quick; in the meantime I'm not shilling out to be another beta tester, I am already burnt after the disaster that was the playbook!
04-11-13 09:33 AMLike 4 - If I understand you correctly, your complaint is about all these accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, email) being integrated in the hub. The easy solution for you is to remove the accounts you don't want integrated altogether from the phone, and then when you do want to check Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, email,... don't use the apps (which are integrated), just use the mobile websites for each account?04-11-13 09:33 AMLike 3
- Go to the settings menu and accounts. Turn off notifications in the account you want them off in. You can still see your notifications within the said app (ie. facebook).04-11-13 09:45 AMLike 0
- I too think the hub works very well. I also group my messages together so it's cleaner. I find myself going back and forth between the hub and going into each individual account. +1 on removing the account if you don't want to see if at all.
Posted via CB1004-11-13 09:46 AMLike 0 - You can turn the sounds and LED off for the apps you don't want to see notifications for. You can also set your notification preferences for mobile devices for each app (eg. Facebook) so that only the notifications you want to receive are pushed to your phone.
The apps are integrated into the OS itself, so there is no way for you to be logged into the app without it showing up in the hub.

- I thought the same thing as you about the Hub until I finally figured out how it actually worked, and the only way I really figured it out was I had to compare it to the way things worked on my OS7 BB. I don't know if you used a BB before this one, but my explanations below are direct comparisons to OS7, so my apologies if you didn't have one and this still doesn't make any sense.
In OS7 all of the accounts each had their own icon on the homescreen, one for each email address, one for texts, one for Facebook, etc. If you had a message in one of these accounts there would be a red star on that folder. But then there was also a "All Messages" icon where ALL of your stuff went, emails, phone call log, texts, etc., whatever you chose to include in your All Messages inbox folder was all combined in there.
Ok, so on OS10 you have your Hub account list (your list of all accounts with the black background). Consider this list as nothing more than a vertical list of all of your account folders, like the individual account icons on OS7. You can click each one and it opens JUST that account's inbox if that is all you want to see. If you have a new message in any account it will have a red star next to it, like the red star you would see on an individual account icon in OS7.
Now the "Hub".....the Hub is nothing more than what your "All Messages" inbox folder was in OS7. You tell it in Hub Management which of your accounts you want to see in that All Messages inbox, just like you did in OS7. You can have all accounts visible, or no accounts, it's up to you how cluttered you want that inbox. I never used it in OS7 and preferred to just open each account folder icon, but I am trying to use the Hub message box so that I can take advantage of the "peek" feature, which I like.
Someone mentioned that no matter how many accounts you have turned on in Hub Management you will only see messages for up to five of them. This is not true. I have 7 of my accounts turned on in Hub Management and I just confirmed that I can currently see items for all 7 of them in my Hub.
This is how I visualize it in order for it to make sense. I think it needs a little tweaking, but I do like it a lot because of the ability to "peek" from my apps.04-11-13 10:59 AMLike 2 - I do now give up with this crap phone!!!!
