Early last week, I read about Verizon still not having the updated OS for Z10. Crackberry said Verizon was planning on changing that this week. That week has come and passed. Any word on when we people on Verizon will get this much awaited update? http://m.crackberry.com/psa-verizon-...l-certain-apps

Anyone have a Verizon email address of someone important that we can blow up to make this happen? Not sure why they feel the need to test so thoroughly.

I tweeted VZW customer support about showing us some upgrade love for the BB10. I got a response that said they were showing us lots of love with the best 4G LTE network. In other words not happening soon Love/Hate Verizon sometimes.

Edit: I also went to the Verizon forum and put in my 2 Cents

I hope they aren't waiting for 10.1, that could be weeks or months with Verizon

Waiting on a 10.1 release would be another horribly long waiting game. I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm not having battery issues, as of now, but that could always change. Would like the ability to get whatsapp though.

VZ may not jump to upgrade anything.

The latest news is the company seeing a significant increase in Z10 returns and in some instances they are exceeding sales.

This could either be the initial hiccups that people face (battery) or they are maybe waiting for the Q10 to launch. In either case, VZ is probably in a wait and see mode.

Vz is waiting like they should. As a Vzw tech I know first hand when the people complain about it update and when they get it they start complaining even more. They are not gonna just throw something out there just because bbry says it's ok they did that with Google and I can count numerous android phones that got all screwded after updates (Samsung fascinate, moto razr, moto Droid X, Droid 2, Droid 4, HTC incredible, HTC Samsung stratosphere, Samsung nexus, oh and not let's forget I phones as well. ) they don't want a customer back lash. BlackBerry has a lot riding on this. I don't think they can survive a failed upgrade or an upgrade that cause issues. I can't deal with it! I gotta answer the phone to you guys!!!!

    sxnieves,

As someone in IT, I understand about not wanting to screw things up by going with the latest code level on something. What we are talking about here is a code upgrade that fixes a large number is issues, not the least is battery life. I'm going to "guess" that many of the returns Verizon is seeing, is due to issues that are fixed in newer levels of code. If you're going to wait until all the bugs are fixed, then it'll never happen.

I happen to have run into some of the issues, but I understand about them, and can wait until the newer code is released. My wife can't understand the issues, and is getting very frustrated with the phone. I keep telling her that there is a newer code level from Blackberry, but that Verizon is not releasing it.

Well the problem is that the version we are on has a lot of bugs that are resolved in 10.0.10.xx ... Verizon needs to get off their *** and push this through.

You lose all credibility when you throw the Nexus into play. Sorry. This is straight WRONG.

If one developer can have a FULLY FUNCTIONING version of Android running on my Nexus, 1 day after Google releases a source code, Verizons team of techs shouldn't take 4+ months to release Android Jellybean. The official updates just came out for the Nexus and I have had it already for months. No crashes, no reboots, no problems PERIOD. It is Verizon and their ridiculous testing process and need to add bloat that is the problem.

Verizon should NOT be waiting. They should keep the current Z10 users satisfied, and we need the 10.0.10 update PRONTO.

Verizon is notorious with slow updates. Verizon NEVER did that with Google. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus wasn't even on the most current software when it released if I remember correctly. This is why Google will NEVER sell another Nexus on Verizons network.

Apple is the only manufacturer that Verizon allows to dictate things.

You are phone support? Tell Verizon you guys need better training. I'm tired of teaching their staff how to use my device every time I call to find out why Verizon took out software features (can only use Bing as default search since Verizon is in bed with Microsoft they take features away from a device I paid for, and I can't turn off LTE and use CDMA only) and when my update will be coming.

You have no idea what your talking about. The nexus started having tons of problems immediately after the first update. People couldn't hear getting feedback on calls. No data connection even though LTE was present not connecting to wifi networks amoung other things.

Do you take tech calls for a living foe Vzw customers? Nope I don't think so.

You must be the ***** that thinks he knows everything when he calls up and then gets mad when a rep puts him in his place. I get guys like you call in all the time. Think they know everything but yet your calling in so we can fix your phone. Way to go smart guy.

Thanks for this. I sent a message as well. Having previously come from the iPhone land, I'd forgotten about how terrible it is when the carrier holds you hostage to updates. If AT&T can push the update out then I would expect the same from Verizon. At the very minimum, it would be nice if Verizon provided some visibility or transparency on update plans.

It's always been a waiting game for updates on devices. I am sure they will release the update as soon as they have what they want on it.

I don't call to get help to fix my phone. I called to find out about updates and why your company stripped my device of features.

The Verizon ROM is what caused those problems. So please, it is YOUR company that caused the problems, not Google. Go talk to the modding community, they will tell you who put the ****ty software there.

Like last night, I called again to find out info on the update and why Bing search can't be changed and why LTE can't be disabled. I spoke to another VZW BB specialist. Real nice guy, but he didn't know. I told him why,he didn't believe me, called up a rep from BlackBerry and had her on the phone. She read straight rom her screen "Verizon software is specially modified to keep Bing as the default search for BB10 browser. For those who want to use Google or anything else, they can still use the direct web page and create a bookmark".

So again, Verizon gets paid by Microsoft, and screws customers over.

I am not the guy who thinks he knows it all. I am educated on the products I own. I have tweaked, modded and installed custom software on every device I have ever owned (Root/ROM Android, jailbreak iPhone, custom leaked OS for BB). Sorry, the phone reps have NEVER been knowledgable. This is a problem all the carriers have. Maybe you might be in the 5% of reps that know something. If so, spread your knowledge to the rest of them, because they need it.

It's stupid that Apple is allowed to push out OS updates as they see fit, even when it crashes Exchange servers. But BlackBerry must get carrier approval for all updates.
