Its not about fairness, its about carrier bands...one model wont run on all networks, they need to modify the radio to work on different carrier networks.

A lot of it has to do with regulations regarding radiation levels ('SAR' or 'Specific Absorption Rate'), which vary from region to region, so you might have phones with different hardware for Bluetooth classes, spectrum/frequency bands, etc.

Also regions have different (but similar) processors as part of their released products (just like Z10s that used TI OMAP 4470 and Snapdragon S4 Plus in different regions).

The is no universal LTE chip that would work with all bands, forget about the World even in US the 4 carriers operate on four different LTE bands, until a global chip happpens no one can escape the reality, even Iphone has different versions if you care to look at the actual UPC or model numbers. Secondly most developing countries don't have LTE and for them BBRY uses a different processor SOC (Texas Instruments), mostly it has to do with very close working relationship with QNX and TI (also cost reduction), if TI had a LTE SOC they would have long ditched Qualcomm and would have gone all in with TI

Different regions in the world have (sometimes annoying) different tech properties. The AC plug is a particularly famous one... I cannot stand those bulky British wall plugs versus the tiny North American ones.

Even within the same country (i.e. USA) different carriers may use different bands or even different radio tech altogether (i.e. Verizon and its CDMA). You want to sell to everyone, you gotta make multiple variants.

Don't even get me started on computer keyboards =.=

SQN100-1 and SQN100-5 seem like the most likely models to be launched in Canada due to the LTE Bands....SQN100-5 seems to be the model that will work with AWS Band IV HSPA+ for T-Mobile, Mobilicity and WIND but maybe SQN100-1 will work as well based on what happened with the Z10...does anyone on the inside know which version Rogers, Telus and Bell will be getting?

Some people are streaming or downloading larger files, which LTE handles ridiculously fast.

Good news: you don't have to use it.
There's no debating that consumers want it, whether or not you do.

Actually the LTE chip can support all the bands, the issue is the antennas, there are limits to how many of those can be in the one device.
