So i've BBM video chatted with a friend a few times and was going to demonstrate it today and for some reason when I called him what was showing up for me was just colours (like the test screen on tv's). It only did this when he was trying to use his front camera and worked completely fine using his back camera. He could see me fine, I just could not see him when he used his front camera, i've attached a screenshot. This happen to anyone else?

Lol so I guess since 117 people have viewed and no ones commented this hasn't happened to anyone else and my buddy may just have a defective unit.

I have done many video chats with my brother who has a zed10 and my parents who use playbooks and have never seen this happen. Has it happened more than once? Has he tried rebooting and trying again? when he starts the video chat is the front selected by default and does it work but only happens when he switches to back then to the front again?

Hi yah, he's rebooted it. It's defaulted to front camera and that's what shows. When he switches to the back cam it comes through fine.

Your friend should bring it back to carrier. I've had various video chats with my Z10 and have never seen this before...alternatively, your friend can try to wipe the device and see if it fixes it. If not, it is likely a hardware issue.

Yah that's what I'm thinking. I told him he needs to take it back to telus.

does he get the same result if he tries to take a picture with the front camera?

I've used bbm video also. As well as to and from pb devices, not just z10's. Never seen this. I wouldn't settle or try to workaround it. They are within the warranty period. I'd get it replaced.
