- Id been so psyched and hyped about the z10 since the announcement. I had been a die-hard BB fan for several years in the past. I was looking forward to getting away from the Android experience Ive been using for the past couple years.
I went into my local Best Buy yesterday to play with the phone. I knew a couple guys there and they are heavy phone users like myself, updating ROM's and whatnot.
I spoke to the guy who had the Z10 in his possession and was the blackberry "specialist". I played with the phone for a few minutes. He walked me through the gestures and how to use it and stuff. I thought it had great graphics and was really snappy.
Then when I asked him if it was worth switching from the Nexus he said dont do it. I was shocked and he said the phone isnt ready yet, dont switch.
I was all set to walk out with the phone and yet I didnt. Looks like Ill wait a bit longer until they polish the OS up a bit and give it another look. Im still also a bit hesitant to jump in after all the threads with issues. I will stay on top of this forum though to see how everyone is getting along with it.JPSKILLZ and toujours_frais like this.03-25-13 11:25 AMLike 2 - Nexus is a great device but you still should give the BB a try on your own and form your own conclusion. Without knowing what your needs are its hard to say what phone would be better for you but I still think you need to atleast give it a test run for a couple days03-25-13 11:29 AMLike 32

- I usually get a new phone every 6 months(that I keep) and in between I buy a phone or two to play with then return.
I really only use a couple apps a lot(FB, Twitter, gmail/exchange, weather, news, KIK). I dont play any games on my phone and I hardly stream any movies or music. I suppose Im more of an information user than a media user.
When I saw that two of my biggest used apps werent on the app store(tweetcaster and KIK) I realized it would be hard for me to communicate the way Im used to on a daily basis with this phone.
I probably could pick up the phone for a couple days and play with it but I honestly dont think it would give me enough time to get used to the OS and make a fair assessment. Most reviews Ive been reading it takes at least a couple weeks to fall into the rhythm of really understanding the phone.
PS-thanks for not posting a negative response telling me to get lost lol.03-25-13 11:34 AMLike 8 - Its not that I need an opinion to help make a decision. Its getting the opinion from people I value their opinion from based on them knowing how I use my phone and what Im looking for in one.03-25-13 11:35 AMLike 2
- "I was shocked and he said the phone isnt ready yet, dont switch."
What part wasn't ready? What do you use the phone for? When I walked in to a store I usually have my mind made up based on my research. I would try the phone to ensure it was as good as I seen in videos and so on.
By that point if a sales person told me not to get the phone I wouldn't listen unless they had some compelling reason I had over looked. I am not a sheep I make my own decisions.03-25-13 11:39 AMLike 6 - Kik is available as a sideload here on CB, and I agree with the previous poster make up your own mind, you can always return it if it doesn't suit your needs but at least you tried, hard to judge a product without trying it out first

Sure battery life is a bit on the lacking side, but with the ability to switch batteries its a non issue... i can not speak to the nexus but i can say that the z10 is amazing... the only thing this phone can not compete with its competitors s on the apps side.. which is slowly but surely being taken care of.. anyways, its all about personal preference... hopefully we will get you on a z10, but until then, enjoy your nexus, we will still welcome you around here

- Thank you for letting me know, I didnt realize it was available as a sideload. I know you need the full SDK for some apps and not all are available or released by creator. That being said, what I really like about Tweetcaster is the ability to post to FB and Twitter at the same time. Is there an app out there that does the same thing for the Z10? If so, then both of my app concerns are waived and I will try the phone.03-25-13 11:52 AMLike 0

. Maybe less if I am viewing news posts or using the Internet

But clearly you could see how flawed this logic is, and not quantitative at all. It's crap logic that's what it is.
Posted via CB1003-25-13 12:13 PMLike 0 - Top tip: always go on your own gut feeling. Never rely on anyone elses opinion. You seemed to have quite a good time with it before asking the sales rep that question. Most sales reps will push you into a certain direction either because they will get more commission out of a sale, or don't know much about a product so will stick with one they know.
I work as a field support engineer for a worldwide company & I don't trust hardly any of our sales reps to actually listen to what the customer may want or require. All they mostly do is listen to what they themselves want (mostly more commission) & desire for them. The Z10 is an amazing phone I think, but only you will know if it is right for you. At the worst you could try it for two weeks & if you don't like it take it back. There is always a cooling off period for these things.03-25-13 12:14 PMLike 0 - Top tip: always go on your own gut feeling. Never rely on anyone elses opinion. By your logic of measuring battery life, I'd say I got 50% left after 30 hours yesterday! Of course, I have not mentioned how long my phone was on standby, how many games I played, how much data was downloaded, etc. Cmon man.. I thought Android users were geeks! (sarcasm).

- I think you should have listened to why he thought it wasn't ready before making up your mind.
What part isn't ready?
I'm using mine daily and haven't been found wanting yet. The device is ready in my opinion.
Get it, try it. You have around two weeks cooling off period to make up your mind. I suggest trying it for at least a week. A few days doesn't show what the z10 is capable of
Posted via CB1003-25-13 12:31 PMLike 0 - You have to experience BBZ10 for yourself to really know how it's like. I would recommend you to try it out for at least a week or two to get used to the new OS and the intuitive keyboard and once you get the hang of typing and swiping on BB10 along with all the gestures, you will be surprised. And if you don't like it, return it if a store has the return policy in place.
Don't listen to what other people tell you, you are the one making the decision so why not just give it a try if the sexzzZ10 is occupying your mind right now =)

Fortunately, I think there are quite a few people who don't have the specific needs that you do, and who WOULD be happy with the Z10. And I think there's enough of these customers out there that the developers will take notice and start making their apps available over the next several months.03-25-13 12:42 PMLike 5
