is it really supposed to be THIS bad?

everything is as it should be, superfine, large, auto white balance, decent lighting, etc.

Check your camera settings. I am not aware of what it should appear as, but I do know that the highest available quality setting is "super fine."

Artificial lighting is not BB friendly. Get outdoors and you will see a HUGE difference!

This worked for me and pretty well. Use the flash no matter where you are. This cleaned mine up quite a bit.

I had the same question. I know its 2.0 but I expected a little better than this. I do agree that outdoor or natural lighting is better. When I set my flash to always on I received a warning that it will impact battery life. I assume that's just if I take a lot of pics and not that somehow power is going to the flash even when the camera is off thus creating a drain. Anyone know?

I took pictures with the Small (640x480) settings when I first got mine. Pictures looked fine on the device, but were horrible when I viewed them from my PC. I get began to get better results when I changed setting size to Large (1600x1200). The file size is quite large, but it looks better on my PC screen.

well 640x480 is a resolution not used on pc's since windows 98 so yeah of course its going to look like crap on ur pc, but decent on ur phone because its 320x240

shoot in the highest mode possible, *if u have a memory card inserted* and only take 1600x1200 in superfine quality. and it'll be good.

Change your resolution. that will go a long way. the image you posted was only 604 x 453 pixels.

I love that pic of the bike Twin. And, yes, natural lighting rocks when it comes to BB pics.

I got better pics when I hold the phone with 2 hands to take a pic. I guess I move to much when I only use 1

Much better pics outside though. Couldn't agree more.

Of course if you zoom a 640x480 image to fill a modern display it's going to look pretty bad. But with no magnification the picture should be relatively clear. The picture of the bike in the follow-up post is only 800x600, yet the difference between this and the OP's picture is like night and day - evidence that resolution alone is not a significant factor in the picture quality in this case.

The odd resolution of the OP's picture (604x453) indicates that it was cropped from a larger picture for the purpose of posting here. We have no idea what the resolution of the original picture is, or at what range the picture was taken, but it appears that the camera was only a short distance from the subject, indicating that the inability to focus might be an issue.

To the OP - you don't happen to have your Curve in an Otterbox, do you?

I shoot all my pictures with the flash always on and then 1600x1200 and on the superfine setting, then I just resize them and make them smaller on my computer. I also do Auto Adjust/Levels/Color in Photoshop depending on the picture. I know most people won't want to do all of that, but if you do, you won't tell the difference between your Curve camera and a basic digital camera.

Focal distance is a huge issue too, these things can't focus so you have to try and hit the sweet spot.
