this is known because you do not go through the BlackBerry servers that truncate data any more.
    I upgraded from 500mb to 6gb.

Call customer retentions and they will help you out. They will now use as much data as an iphone or android device.

Nothing new. That's the way it is with Android and iPhone. Data isn't compressed anymore and bogged down. I go through about 2-3GB a month. I download and stream though a good amount

BB-Bmore you are telling the truth about that... T-Mobile (USA) got me covered. BTW Z10 users, in BB-World is there Pandora (or Apollo) for streaming music available for download?

2-3 gigs? What are you doing with your phones? I can barely spend 1gb, and that's mainly due to youtube...

My wife and I routinely use 2-4 gb's a month on our Android phones. Streaming music eats up more data than most people realize. I've been using Android for a few years and I was amazed at the difference in days used when I switched from a 9700

I would venture to guess that you are browsing more than you did on your previous phone. Correct or incorrect? I don't have the Z10 but when I got a bigger phone (SIII), I used my laptop and tablet a lot less.

I've had mine for one week and I am currently through 100mb's ... I use wifi a lot though. If I'm at work it's on Wifi and at home it's the same thing. I tend not to use data a ton when I'm just out and around, and I don't stream music or movies really. I do use Youtube a fair bit though.

Actually, most data is compressed even without BIS.

The http and https protocols support content compression, and almost all modern servers do it out-of-the-box. So when you are browsing, the pages are zipped by the webserver and unzipped on the phone. Most cloud-connected apps, such as weather apps, facebook, twitter, cloud storage and news/blog/rss readers use http or https behind the scenes, and will probably by default use compression unless they explicitly ask the server not to. Images, audio and video are always compressed, of course. As are many other formats such as Office 2007 files (docx/xlsx/pptx).

What is not compressed? Your e-mail, perhaps, depending on the configuration of your server. Some chat clients - how fast can you type? Plus DNS, for looking up server addresses, but that's almost nothing. And a few protocols less frequently used on phones, such as ftp, ssh, telnet etc.

If your data usage is up, it's probably mostly because you have a shiny new phone with lots of new features, a fast browser and a nice screen. And perhaps because of inevitable bugs in the OS and apps.

Sorry guys, you can't have it both ways. Either use a content rich phone with LTE, fast browser which loads full pages and tons of data, or go back to an older BB which compresses data and it is much slower.

Using my phone In all seriousness i stream a lot. I also download music while on LTE. I browse the net all the time. Full sites not mobile. Do a few speed tests here and there. It can add up quick.

I've only used about 100 mb in a week. Thank you wifi. I'm watching closely but it looks like my 2 gig share plan with Telus will be more than adequate for me.

Yesterday I was surprised to see how much data is gone from my plan. I was very much depressed. I have been spoiled. Oh well, that is what wifi is for. Does the Z10 automatically change to wifi when it is available?
