HI guys, I have had probably on of the first Z10's in UK, and I was upset about the battery life on it, from day one. It didn't last even 12 hours. I had everything on, bt wifi and was using the phone like I normally do during the working day. Anyway, I turned off the 3g, and now it has doubled the battery life Very simple. And because the browser is so fast, on EDGE it works great. I love my BB10

    Cheers

leaving wifi, bt and highspeed connection to the carrier will kill any device . I turned off LTE on mine and it lasts longer as well and data speed/browsing is still ridiculously fast

Turning off stuff for the phone to last a whole of moderate used shouldn't be the answer. I think there is a lot of software optimization that can be done on Blackberry part to help with this issue. I'm planning on buying a Z10 when it comes out in the US and hopefully this would be resolve by then. I have a iPhone 5 LTE with Verizon and I'm able to get 12-14hrs no problems which is pretty good for me (lots of instagram, twitter and whatsapp). Blackberry can do better, we will see in the coming future.

    TURN OFF NFC!!!

my phone went from 45% to 17% overnight (when i was sleeping) and the only thing that was different from that day and yesterday night was NFC... yesterday night it was at 100% when i went to bed, woke up at 95%, but i had got 10 emails, a couple bbms and texts, which was more then the night before... so my phone did more and drained A LOT less with NFC OFF

no way, my mate has Iphone 5, and also instagram and faceboo and talks a lot, as he is full time business man, his Iphone is completely drained around 5pm, so from 9-5. The new BB10 is the same with everything on

But I do agree that this is not the solution to the problem, at least the BB users benefit from an extra battery Iphone people don't

You have to remember another factor is how good your signal is. If the phone is always constantly looking for an LTE signal, that also wastes battery.

NFC shouldnt be causing the drain. It should be off and not polling if the screen isnt on actually

this is what i did, turned off the LTE unless i'm streamign even then i don't think its totally needed, my cousing tried my Z10 today and wanted to see how the browser was so he went on some porn sites to see how it was and honestly it loaded and streamed the clip on H+ quickly and the video wasn't even buffering. porn sites tend to be very large sites and the pages loaded fast.

both his business partner and him were also super excited to play with it, i've bever seen almost 40 year old men act like kids with a new toy :P

I had the NFC off all the time, but with 3g on, the battery would be dead in 11 hours, now it lasts for 2 days almost and I do use the phone like I normally do

Thats what I thought, but i have been using my phone more now that it is off and battery is much better... can it just be that the first charge drains quick?

maybe, i would turn it back on and test. Its a security issue to have in running while screen off technically so i doubt BB would leave it running

the first few charges will drain quickly. look up how to break in a new battery. for the first 4 times or so that a battery is used you have to take it to atleast 20%ish charge and fully take it up to full charge. its even better if you fully drain the battery and then fully charge it. every battery has a memory to it and we all should remember that. and if you see that over time a battery begins to die quickly do the same thing let it fully die a few times and charge it back up fully, most of the time it'll replenish the memory of the battery

Actually, I think people need to learn to close the apps they're not using. i'm glad blackberry 10 doesn't waste as much battery as android when leaving apps open in the background, but it's still a source of battery drain nonetheless

I read on one of these threads that the battery needs a few drains/charges before it comes in line.... Whether that be true or not, I was concerned the first two days, but here it is the third day, had 95% charge at 8:30am, it's now 2:55pm, and I'm still sitting at 60%. I don't know how batteries work but this seems to be good news to me. Oh, and I still have not turned off LTE.

Actually, I found that after a couple of days of draining and fully charing, thing are pretty decent even with LTE on. I'm way over 50% 12 hours into my day.
