I posted this in the desktop manager thread but got no answers.

I have a PlayBook, Zed10, 9810, 9300 and 8900 that all do not connect to desktop manager of bblink. It always fails at the Installing BlackBerry Smartphone Driver.

Does BBLink install but the drivers just fail? If so, uninstall BBLink cleanly and start fresh with it.

ok,,,sometimes my firewall/antivirus will pop up in the background underneath everything asking permission to do whatever,,, it doesn't happen often,,, usually only when i am going to run something new, (i.e. BB Link), or when one of my existing programs adds an update that installs big changes to the operation of it that is unfamiliar...

Windows 8 you might need to disable the UAC completely... Turning the UAC all the way down dosnt do it like in Win 7.. In Win 8 u have to edit the registry key for the UAC... I can find the exact key for you tomorrow.. That may help

How do you uninstall in safe mode. I tried to uninstall Blackberry Link in safe mode, and got a message that it couldn't be done in safe mode. (Windows 7)
Uninstalled Blackberry Link. Reinstalled. Same issues. Blackberry Smartphone Driver Failed. Blackberry Device installed.
Subsequently, I can sync all media between computer and device, but cannot backup my Z10.
    Any suggestions?

this phone sucks for connecting it to a pc and getting a simple file off. Aside from the playbook and the zed10 all other bb devices were, plug in, instll driver Go. this oneis always drivers failing, network acess denied, and the crappiest thing ever. AWESOME phone, craptastic computer connectivity. but i guess that's why people are pushing media drop boxes like religion, yeah, because I really want to upload dirty pictures and unique artwork to someone elses servers...
