It seems bb10 is strictly for the new devices only , Does this mean that the 9900 will not receive any more OS updates , Like OS8 or OS9 , does RIM secretly want us to throw away all our old devices and get a bb10 device ?

At this point, there is no BB8 and BB9. Some speculate BB8 as PBOS 1.0, and BB9 as PBOS 2.0

Well, 7.1 keeps getting updates which improves things like performance and battery life further, as well as adding new features. So at least "we" are not forgotten.
I doubt RIM will release another major OS version for existing OS7 devices. It simply wouldn't make any sense at all.

I just read on the General Thread where someone was asking about BB8 and BB9, when now we're gonna launch BB10. Again, there is no law that states a manufacturer is supposed to follow a specific sequence when it comes to software versions.

I personally don't think there will be a BB8 or BB9 after BB10 is launched. It's liken to launching the space shuttle, and going back to work on designing the car. Once BB10 is launched, full focus is going to be given on making sure that BB10 is a success, and not going back and designing an OS for older devices.

well , hope they keep releasing patches and all , the 9900 still needs a lot of work , and it was expensive , expecting 9900 users to migrate to bb10 is foolish idea , rim needs to keep this in mind.

There might be a BB7 upgrade, but I seriously doubt there will ever be a BB8 or BB9.

And I'm sure that won't be anything to write home about!

Sorry to break this to you but RIM is COUNTING on you buying another device. It will not be cheaper either! This is how RIM makes a living.

They can count me out of BB10 i'm afraid.

When my next free upgrade comes along I will just get a second 9900 and keep it in the box until my current one dies.

Simply love the Java based OS's that give the Hybrid fraternity the chance to work their magic on.

Can't help but feel that Blackberry will lose it's uniqueness with BB10 and look and function like just another I Phone/ Android with no trackpad and BB button gone.
