Lucas from N4BB.com tweeted today that BB10 was now in carrier testing.
RIM did say it will go into carrier testing this month.
He was not giving away a lot of details though.
    See for yourself.

Indeed, if this thing they keep saying about the radio stack being seperate from everything else is actually true then hopefully the process should be quicker than it traditionally has been for BBOS.

Quicker why? Because of the PlayBook 4G?

BB10 allows for the radio stack to be isolated from the OS. Allowing modifications, tweaks etc to not effect the OS away from the radio stack. This allows for quicker testing and implementation as any tweak to the radio stack has no impact on the entire OS.

BBOS has the radio stack and os interwoven. Any mod to the radio stack effects other parts away from itself.

    My point exactly.
It still remains to be seen if this will make a difference as this is an all-new OS that is likely to undergo closer scrutiny than usual.

So if OS deployment should be easier now, why did the 4G PlayBook not get 2.1 release @ the same time as the WiFi versions???

You are missing the point. It should be easier compared to BBOS.
When RIM felt 2.1 was ready it was immidiately deployed to wifi PBs, it doesn't need any carrier testing (however simpler than BBOS it maybe) wheres for the 4G that is an extra step.
