I've just received a replacement 9900, upgraded it straight to 7.1 and I only have approx 134MB before any apps were installed. ON my original 9900, I had about 160MB before I installed any apps. All I'm wondering is, has something changed with regards to memory?

Going from 7.0 to 7.1 cause this drop in memory. Not unusual for a newer OS to take up more memory with added features.

No I understand that, but even with 7.1 on my previous device I still had around 150-160MB even after so many apps installed. I just wondered if anyone else was having the same issue with such little space on 7.1, even before any apps have been installed.

Did you shrink the OS on your previous device? Do a reboot and see what your avaialble memory is... you could be reading the available memory during memory leak.

I didn't shrink the OS no, never done anything to the OS apart from upgrade my previous device to official updates from RIM.

How do I shrink the OS? Is there a Forum Thread on that?

    You should shrink your OS.

How would I go about doing that? Does it create a lot more space on the device?

Go here to download BBHTool: lyricidal / @theiexplorers Home Page

Be wise in what you shrink out...

Make sure OS is installed on PC and then run BBHTool.

Delete all generic preinstalled doc files from Docs2go. Delete all languages except english. You may want to go to Application Management and see what came installed on your version of 7.1. Delete as necissary. Keep us posted.

Definitely delete wallpapers as well, if you don't use them. You can also delete fonts you don't use but one of them has to be left on there...I can't remember which one it was but someone else could probably chime in. Be careful though.

Latin TrueType must stay... and Times if you use Presentations in Docs To Go.
