As most of you have read the new article by kevin you'll notice that he mentions the new qwerty device will have the same screen as the current 9900...please tell me its not just me who will be extremely dissapointed if the screen on the new qwerty device isn't bigger than the 9900. BB10 is supposed to be all about shotcuts/swiping/etc so how can the current bold 9900 screen size accomodate for this.. Share opinions please!

I think u might be misinformed. The qwerty bb10 (720 x 720) will have a larger screen than the current 9900 (640x480) ... the absent physical buttons and the trackpad will make up additional screen estate.

    Similar to this....

He stated it has the same footprint as the 9900. Since the n-series screen is square, I'd say take the 9900 screen, and stretch it down over the trackpad, etc. Till its square. That's how I picture it.

If that is the case "9of13" then I will be relieved but I was under the assumption that the 1:1 form factor means keyboard to screen ratio which is what the 9900 has, if your theory is correct then wouldn't the article have said something along the lines of 1.3:1 screen to keyboard ratio?

I don't think it has anything to do with screen vs keyboard. It is referring to aspect ratio.

    Exactly. 720 x 720 means it is a 1:1 screen ratio, whereas the full touchscreen model is 1280 x 720 or 16:9.

Of course the device isn't even out yet and someone is already looking for something to complain about.

    Points to consider,
One, i'd like to know one similar candy bar QWERTY on the market with better resolution.

Two, what further is there to reasonably expect on a physical QWERTY? A 5" screen with a keyboard? Ridiculous.

I'm sure someone somewhere will be like "BB10 is dead on release" if it doesn't have a penta-core processor.

screen isn't going to be much bigger than the 9900 period. anything bigger would just look/feel foolish.

I honestly think with BB10 touchscreen will become the standard and one to buy anyway.

um wheres your proof of the next qwerty being 3.5 inches..? that would be the iPhone screen ontop off the keyboard and would be impractical. I'm guessing it will be around 3-3.1 inches 3.2 max

Where did you pull that 3.5" number?

If it keeps the same width of the 9900 screen, it will be 3.2-3.25" with the added height.

A 3.5" screen from corner to corner would mean the phone is at least 2.5" wide and thats only if the screen is 100% of the width.

Yup, so it would mean the BB10 Bold would be 1/4" wider than the Bold 9900/9300, unless they are able to trim a bit from the frame around the LCD.

The Bold 9900's display has a frame of 1/16" around the LCD panel, so if the LCD panel is frame-less, a BB10 Bold would only have to be 1/8" wider than the existing bold. Definitely possible.

Screen area of a 3.5" square would be equivalent to a larger widescreen one. The London, with a 4.2" 16:9 screen, would be about 7.93 sq in. A 3.5" square is 6.15 sq in. From what has been leaked, the London will be 4.2", and the Nevada 3", with an area of 4.38 sq in.

i don't have proof i've just read on here about it on here, you're probably right saying 3.2" as thats more or less where the bold 9900s screen width would calculate to about, eitehr way thats noticably larger then the current screen and we still don't know if the phone will be the same size or a touch larger

Where did you see the Nevada would be 3"? I only ever saw confirmation of the 720x720 resolution, not screen size.
