Good evening all... Just traded in my 9790 for a 9900... I was actually quite happy with my 9790, great camera, light, stable and dependable... What I did not like was the size of the keyboard... I am absolutely blown away with how good the 9900 keyboard is... I just upgraded from 267 to 523 and just waiting for the operating system to stabalize and after a few more battery pulls all should be well... All in all, I love this phone!!!... Well done RIM...

Undoubtedly the best keyboard on the planet is on a 9900. So soft, but so tactile. Glad to know that the 9900 is still attracting fans

Its a fantastic phone, that keyboard is so good I can rattle out texts, emails etc in no time with the 9900. I actually tried the 9790 too something funny though about the keypad buttons along the left and right hand sides almost difficult to use. But generally the 9790 is a great phone too. Love them both, love Blackberry and Blackberry by choice.

I can't wait to get my 9900 or 9930 when I relocate to Texas from Germany in a few days. Going with Verizon because of the coverage and hope all goes well with the setup. Good thing this forum is here if I need assistance. You guys are great!

Now go back to the 9790 Forum and tell lke1 he made a big mistake!

No regrets at all... The only thing I miss is the auto-focus, that being said, the beneifits of this phone far out way any less than perfect picture taking... I am going to post in the 9790 forum as I received a tremeandous amount of help from those fine folks... I think Ike1 might now be self aware of what he has done... lol... Thanks again,

Unless you want reliable cell and wifi radios i seldom disagree with Phill but many of us have signal problems not known with the 9700. Good luck in any case and the keyboard is fantastic.

I agree. I find the typing much nicer on the 9700/80 & 9790 if there's a thinner case on it, like Seidio Innocase, Incipio Feather, Case-Mate Barely There, etc (Plus I assume the 9790 has the new-style RIM Soft Shell case available too.)
That extra millimeter makes a huge difference, IMHO.

But regardless, the 9900 keyboard is unrivaled.

I hope you new owners enjoy your new toy!

The auto focus feature missing from the 9900 is not a problem at all. Check out the thread with pictures taken with the 9900. They are awesome!!!! Auto focus is not needed.

Wow!!!... I can not believe the battery capacity on my 9900 running on the 523 platform... It has been almost 4 days, and after 5-6 battery pulls, this sucker is on fire... After a few calls, emails, bbm's and internet for about an hour (on the weekend) my consumption rate is 3.89%/hour... That almost rivals my old 9790... Great platform thus far...

The keyboard is entirely without equal. I had the Bold 9000, and mistakenly went to the Storm 2. While I love blackberry I hated that phone. As soon as I had my upgrade I knew only one phone could scratch the itch. Welcome to the club.

I still think that the 9790 is better.

By no way you can compare the bigger keyboard, but remember that the 9900 is bigger and heavier than the 9790.

With the 9900 I have to reboot the phone almost every 3 days because it gets slugish.

With the 9790 it lasted over 1 week without rebooting.

From my bad experiences I will never buy a 9900 until RIM releases an updated version.

Maybe the new 9900 phones have something different inside that avoids all the issues I hate. But because RIM does not say nothing about the bricking issue I am happier with the 9790.

It's unfortunate that you had so many issues with your phone, however it is possible to get a lemon with any purchase, big or small... And from most of the posts I have read the 9900 does not seem to be plagued with anymore issues than that of other models... Thus far I can tell you that I have never been happier with the performance of a phone like I am with this one, the 523 platform is a monster... Enjoy your 9790, I certainly did, but the keyboard form factor alone has made me an absolute fan...

Ooh congrats OP! I just recently bought a my 9900 after Thor announced the delay. My husband finally "allowed" me to buy one because I was so crestfallen after reading the news I think he wanted to make me feel better. I couldn't be happier with my device and I'm currently reading up all the info I can in the forums.
(By the way, I did not need permission to buy an item. I just agreed to not buy the bold because it didn't make sense to get a bold and then my bb10 within months. It was a want not a need. I know how to pick my battles! Hehe :P )

I've had mine for almost 1 year and am still impressed. Typing on the keyboard at this point is nearly intuitive. Rarely even look down at it anymore. You will only be happier once you spend a little time with it! Its an awesome device. I am on Vz and despite the higher monthly fee, nothing compares to the coverage and truly the finest Cs in the industry. Enjoy your great Bold!
