- My wife has been wanting a tab and has always said that she thought the Playbook was the perfect size for her. I decided to head over to a local BestBuy earlier today (Southern California) and was shocked to find that there was no Playbook in sight. I asked a BB employee about it and he kind of chuckled and said that there isn't a Playbook in any BestBuy in the state. He then went on to say that RIM is going out of business mentioned the delay of BB10. I took the "going out of business" comment with a grain of salt (he may be right or wrong...), however I was surprised to see that BestBuy did not have Plabooks in the stores. I did some on-line searching and see that I can have it shipped to a store, but indeed they are not in stock.
Has Best Buy given up on the Playbook??07-03-12 07:38 PMLike 0 - Hmmm... still in stock at my local store... and I live in Montana

Has Best Buy given up on the Playbook??
A few weeks ago a clerk at Staples repeatedly tried to bluff us and she didn't even know the difference between a Blackberry phone & a tablet!
BestBuy, Office Depoe & Walmart all sell PlayBooks in their stores here in Washington state, as well as online delivered free the your local store. The only ones they won't be selling are the 16G which is being discontinued, but each of the store are selling the 16G ones until they run out of stock. Our 2 local BestBuy store still have 16G in their stores & the 64G sells for $299.07-03-12 08:52 PMLike 0 - bestbuy notorious for having poor sales help. when I went to my local bestbuy about three weeks ago, a 16 gig PB was hooked up but the clerk didn't know the password and made no effort to get the password. so I went to office depot and dealt with another . I was tempted to go with the 32 gig but it was out of stock. this guy told me that RIM was discontinuing the 32 gig. of course. a couple of days later RIM announces it is discontinuing the 16 gig and not the 32 or 64.
I usually have much better service at Staples, but Staples wasn't carryng PBs.07-03-12 11:46 PMLike 0 - incidentally, before I got to the bestbuy, I wnt to the local Radioshack, which was advertising the PB. when I asked to see one, the clerk brought out a Kindle, thinking it was a PB, or so she said. then she told me her store had no PBs.
first office depot location I. went to had actually closed the store since the last time I visited. since I was on foot and already more tha a mile from home, I took a bus to another office depot. would have been straighforward except on return trip the bus diverted because Obama was in the area on one of his many fundraisers. that cost me mlre than an hour.
the PB purchse esperiencewas a total pain in the neck07-04-12 12:06 AMLike 0 -

- at the best buy i work at we still have a bunch of playbooks, however to get them to move they're now being sold with the journal case and rapid charging stand both for 39.99, and for open box units you get a free journal case. i feel sad when i think about how much money i spent on mine now just over a year later they're practically giving them away.07-04-12 02:20 AMLike 0
- Picked my PB up at Office Depot last week. The Best Buy stores had only the 16 GB model in stock, and the folks there told me they were discontinuing carrying the line.07-04-12 06:15 AMLike 0
- Office Depot near me always has the PB in stock and prominently displays it. Do yourself a favor and avoid 'Best' Buy at all costs. They suck.07-04-12 08:35 AMLike 0

- I wouldn't give Best Buy the time of day. I've been treated dismissively every time I've been in there asking about pb accessories or the pb. Once they didn't even bother to look at me - as if I wasn't worth bothering with. I'd look elsewhere just because they're ******** (fill in whatever adjective makes you happy).07-04-12 10:14 AMLike 0
- The only store I've seen a PlayBook at in the last few months has been the Office Depot by my house. All of the Walmart locations I've been in haven't had PlayBooks or the accessories for at least 6-8 months or so (and I never even saw them try to clearance the stuff either).07-04-12 06:06 PMLike 0
- No playbooks at my local BB and only 32g plus at Office Depot, but I did pickup a rapid charger at office depot at 75% off, they also had all accessories at 50-75% off.07-04-12 10:43 PMLike 0
- When I got my playbook (back when all three models were 200), I went looking for it in person at bestbuy (I ended up buying it on blackberry.com, but I wanted it NOW, so I caved to see if they had it) and it was APALLING. This other guy was in there looking for tablets, and I heard him ask the tablet "specialist" about the playbook and he started spouting all this BS about how it's a horrible tablet, RIM's going out of business, it's the equivalent of small HP touchpad and will not have support in a month. The guy asked if it had document editors like documents to go and he said he didn't know.
At that point, I had to step in, I answered all the guy's questions, told him it did have an editor, told him the ACTUAL state of RIM and he, on the spot, turned to the clerk and told him he'd take a 64 gig model. The guy stared daggers at me and when he came back I asked for one too, and he gave me this icy stare and told me that was the last one.
BestBuy employees push an agenda, usually that apple is king and all other products are inferior. They are also EXTREMELY not knowledgeable (unfair sweeping statement, but the 3 locations I have been to around the state have all been like that).fanatical likes this.07-05-12 12:26 PMLike 1
