I just bought a 2nd PB thru Amazon, and new PB can't connect to update server, so new PB is stuck in set up. Perhaps its the same issue that some of you are having i get... "could not connect to update server. (65792)"
Same here, new PB and stuck in the middle of set up and cannot go any further.
Any workaround? i am fine even without the new update, which can be done later.
Why does this new update prevent me from setting up the device? A serious bug to me.

If you delete the words "thru Amazon", that is exactly my situation. I'm surprised the Blackberry website doesn't seem to have a page devoted to defining the error codes.
this is the kind of things that is killing this platform and RIM does not seem to learn. I got a new playbook today and its been 6 hours, still getting "could not connect to the update server". and since its a new setup, there's no way to get past that. so the tablet is basically unusable. this is tottaly unacceptable.
most people won't come to the forums to find a solution to this. they will simply put it back in the box, return it and get an ipad.
i know the thread is old but i am currently having the same issue after buying a unit (16G) on ebay after doing a wipe i get the dreaded 65792 error.
is this a server error?
is the playbook i purchased a blacklisted unit?
or is this because they (BB) is working on some update?
any guidence here would be helpfull as now i have a device i cannot doing anything with, please help...

Just checked update on my PlayBook and getting the same error. I would try it later.
Trying to set up an extra Playbook I had laying around for my girlfriend and I'm getting the 65792 error as well. Thinking about flashing the 2.1.0.1753 os leak to see if that might do any good. Any thoughts before I take the leap?

I would wait if I were you.
Either something good is cooking or they completely abandoned the PB....
We will see soon I suppose....
Yes,me too. Did a restore this morning (swapping one of my playbooks for a Q5 for my wife) and it's stuck on "could not connect to the update server". This is definitely a server issue. If they've bricked the playbooks from ever being restored it will not be good!
I have been trying to set up my playbook for he last two days and It is still giving me the (65792) error. I have never used blackberry and this is frustrated does this usually happen with blackberry products??
And they basically don't allow people to call them! I've tweeted the @blackberryhelp thing but no news. I really hope it returns soon, and if it doesn't return, that's a lot of bricked playbooks.
mine also showing 65792 server error i have had the unit for 2 years and up to a few weeks a go checked it fairly regularly without problems;so something could be cooking and it could be burnt offerings rather then a stake platter
